Vesta German Shepherds

The Roman Goddess Vesta was the protector of the home and hearth, a household spirit, and ruler over domestic life. She was perhaps the only goddess represented as a statue, but was most often represented as fire, bringing essential light and heat to ancient homes. Welcome everywhere, she brought stability and cohesiveness to families, dwelling on earth with the people rather than Olympus. She was "one complete within herself", a symbol of a circle, stable, continuous, and balanced. We believe that a well bred German Shepherd Dog represents these qualities, hence our name Vesta German Shepherds.

A German Shepherd must be the protector of the home, yet an integral part of the family's daily life. A German Shepherd must be stable and welcomed everywhere. This breed also is "complete within itself", capable of a wide range of duties like no other breed. From herding, to guide work, to search and rescue, to police and military work, a German Shepherd can do it all and still be a loyal companion in the home.

Many people enjoy German Shepherds as competition dogs, in sports such as Schutzhund, Dogsport, formal Obedience, Tracking, Agility, Rally and Flyball. Many German Shepherds serve as Therapy Dogs and Assistance Dogs, and still others shine in the conformation ring. Not suprisingly, many people enjoy participating in multiple venues. This versatile breed is like no other.

Our dogs are from European lineage. Several of our dogs have been with us since tiny pups, and others have joined us as adult dogs. In every case, they are excellent in the house, and happy working dogs on the field. Each dog has their own page and photo album, and we will be happy to answer further questions. We also welcome guests at our training club, where you may meet our dogs and see them work.
