Vertigo are a four piece covers band from the South Wales valleys

Vertigo originally started back in 2004, the original line up of John Francis on vocals, Adam Williams on Lead guitar, Tommy Kenevil on drums and Billy Boom on Bass were guarantied to rock your socks off with numbers in the set like John’s own cover version of ‘Paint it black’ (which was released on the album ‘Take Off’ by John’s band After Hours in the 80’s), Ozzy Osborne, Guns ‘N’ Roses and A.C.D.C. there was no way they could be mistaken for anything other than an all out rock band. If you wanted to see a quality rock band with screaming guitar solo’s they were a must see. However with the music scene changing and more and more bands entering the top forty it was time for a bit of a change, with the introduction of songs from the likes of The Killers and Franz Ferdinand into the set the sound of the band was changing and there was a more modern sound along side the classic rock. At the time there wasn’t another band on the circuit that had this sort of mixed sound, however it was all about to go pear shaped.

With John being diagnosed with Meniere’s disease which by some strange twist of fate typically causes attacks of vertigo, tinnitus and hearing loss it was looking like the band wouldn’t be able to go on much longer, with John struggling more and more to be able to hear himself singing, things weren’t looking good. Eventually John came to the decision that he would have to leave. This was a hard time for the band as they were more like a family than just friends and nobody really wanted him to go.

With John gone they had to find a new singer or call it a day.......Enter Carlos.

After being in bands for years Carlos had been going out on his own doing gigs and with a chance meeting between him and Adam at this crucial time for the band, suddenly things were looking up again. With a few changes to the set they were back up and running. With fresh blood in the band the only way was onwards and upwards, with new ideas from Carlos the band was going from strength to strength. A few months down the line and the band is making more changes putting newer more modern numbers in the set while still keeping that rock edge. Vertigo are now entering a new phase which is looking good for the future, watch this space........
