Royal Thunder is a "true" Premium Registered Irish Gypsy Horse. Thunder stands at 15.2 hands high and weighs about 1,250 pounds.  Clononeen Cottage, Thunder's mother, was imported from Ireland bred to Royal Cash.  Royal Cash is now a 2 STER stallion, which means 2 x 1. premium grading, and currently resides in Denmark.  He can be seen at: http://www.sitecenter.dk/romany at Romany Stable.  Clononeen Cottage and Royal Cash can also be seen at the website : http://www.irishcobireland.com/fame.htm .

Thunder's color testing is complete:

TT
Only Tobiano allele detected. The horse tested homozygous for Tobiano.

EE
Only the black factor detected. The horse tested homozygous for black pigment.

TT in it's Homozygous form will throw 100% Tobiano color pattern everytime to it's offspring. Tobiano can be distinguished from other pinto patterns because a tobiano horse has white that crosses its spine somewhere between the withers and the tail (topline), as if the white had been poured on from above. Tobianos also almost always have white stockings on all four legs; often the white socks blend into the white on the body. A solid-colored leg on a tobiano is almost unheard of.

EE means he can not have red foals regardless of the color of the mate.  The basic color of the horse will be black, bay or brown depending on the genes at the other color loci.  The horse may be buckskin, zebra dun, grullo, perlino, gray or white.  When bred to a bay mare, he can have either a bay and white or a tri-colored foal.  Bay is actually black with the agouti factor.  He can also produce a gray and white foal when bred to a gray.

Thunder will be standing to a limited number of mares.  If you are interested in breeding to him, you are welcome to email us to review our contract.  He is registered with the Irish Cob Society, Gypsy Cob and Drum Horse Association and the American Drum Horse Association.  We offer a multi-mare discount.

The Gypsy Horse is probably the most amazing “new” breed of horse to come to America. In this country they are also known as Gypsy Vanner Horses, Gypsy Cobs, Irish Cobs, and Tinker Horses. Once you see your first Gypsy Horse you are instantly captivated by the magic that surrounds them. Not only does their beautiful color dance before your eyes, but their flowing manes and feathers take your breath away. When you see them in motion it’s as if they are floating across the pasture. As a companion, their incredible, gentle nature is unbelievable. They are kind and willing partners, with a disposition developed over generations by the Gypsy people that prize them.

Image
Gypsy horses are sturdy horses which come in nearly all colors and most have pinto markings. They also have amazing amounts of hair, thick manes that typically fall below the shoulder and tails that drag the ground. The crowning glory on a good Gypsy Cob is the abundance of silky feather. Though there is a broad spectrum in size, the average Gypsy stands between 14 and 15 hands.

The Drum Horse has became recognized as a breed while in service to the Queen of England. These horses are used in ceremonial parades to carry the Queen's heavy kettle drums. These large colored horses are prized for their size, feathering, and disposition. The Clydesdale and Shire are famous for their breathtaking size and beautiful flowing feather. These big horses are known for having a quiet nature and carrying themselves with pride and dignity. These are the same attributes that are valued in the Drum Horse and make them such an awe-inspiring animal.

Drum Horse have captured the imagination with their stunning good looks and stately air. Often seen as a larger version of the Gypsy Cob, the Drum Horse stands at least 16hh and utilizes the bloodlines of the Clydesdale, Shire, Friesian and Gypsy Cob. It is a heavy horse, with lovely feather and exceptional disposition. Developed as a heavy riding horse, the Drum Horse is suited for low level dressage, eventing, hunting, saddle seat, trail, pleasure and, of course, makes an excellent driving horse.

Image"Snowdrifts Princess Dale", our first Drum horse mare, sadly passed away on January 18, 2006.  She truely knew how deeply we loved her and still miss her.  She gave us 3 wonderful foals during her time with us. Her first is a gelding named, "Scottie too Hottie".  A second colt, "Snowdrifts ScottsDale Lad",  was born on Sept. 19,  2002 when bred to the same late stallion "Dapper Dan".  Dale was rebred to King in 2004 and gave us our beautiful filly Misty, pictured below.

ImageSnowdrifts Mista KingsGold  aka "Misty" is our beautiful Blue Roan Foundation Drum filly out of Dale when she was bred to "TerraGold's King Footprint", also a black and white stallion who consistently won at the Pa Farm Show numerous times and other shows across the states.  Sadly King passed away on January 17th, 2004.  Misty was born on May 6th, 2004, and has all the presence of her father & mother.  We couldn't ask for a nicer girl and are very proud to have her as part of our family. She has been shown as a weanling in the Pa 4H and won 1st at Local and went on to Harrisburg acquiring 2nd in State competition.  We will continue to promote her.

Image  We are pleased to introduce Snowdrifts ScottsDale Lad.  This is Dale's second son and is registered as a Foundation Drum Horse with the American Drum Horse Association. He will be standing at our farm for the 2006 season.  If you are interested in breeding or seeing him, please contact us for more information.  He possesses the calm disposition of both his parents.  His first get was out of Razzelle (pictured in photos section along with her colt Maydae), a Belgian/Quarter Horse Cross.  He was born on May 1st at 11:45 PM.  This colt is being offered for sale.  We have posted pictures on in the photo album for your pleasure.  You are welcome to email us for more information if you are interested in purchasing this very nice colt.

Image Our newest addition of Frost Sir James Emily, aka "Tawny" is such as darling horse.  She stands a true 16 hands, is a Bay Registered Clydesdale and Foundation Drum mare.  A pleasant suprise for us, she was in foal to BWS Feather Dancer (aka Harley), a registered Drum stallion.

Tawney will be re-bred to Thunder and this foal is for sale.  You are welcome to email us for a great price.

Tawney foaled a beautiful filly, Miranda on June 20, 2006.  Miranda is not being offered for sale at this time.  She is a lovely Premium Drum filly that we just can't part with.

Our Morning Welcome!!

ImageEvery horse should be like our "Big Ned".   He is our handsome Belgian gelding that we've had since he was barely 3 months old.  He continues to honor us with being such a good, steadfast boy that anyone can ride.  He craves every bit of attention you give him and just loves to be in that show ring, especially with his cowboy hat on.  You can see him at the Blue Spruce Riding Club horse shows and we are planning on attending the Pa State Farm show in 2007.  This is one of the greatest, trustworthy horses I have ever had the pleasure to own.  Rich, you did a wonderful job with training him and your proudness of his accomplishments is justified over and over again every year.  You never left anyone discourage you in all you have done, and we are all proud of you!

3/26/06:  We just got back from Wilson College and won 2 firsts, a 2nd and 2 third places.  Congratulations and keep up the good job Amy!

Welcome to Lori, Michelle, Sam, Eden, Chessica, Destiny, Amy and Nicole.  We appreciate all your support and friendship and look forward to a bright future.  We'd also like to thank our trainers, Sue and Kara for the great job they are doing with the horses.  Your dedication is greatly appreciated.

ImageWe'd like to send special thanks to a few of our good friends and family:

Merle & Jim:  Thank you for everything!  We love you very much!  Without you, Thunder wouldn't be part of our family.  Thanks for being our inspiration and shoulder to cry on when we needed it the most.

Pat and Monica at Husaana Arabians:  You guys have been there for us during thick and thin.  We love and appreciate all you have done for us and couldn't ask for better friends.

Greg and Maggie at Hidden Hill Farms:  You both have been there for us during the good times and bad.  We certainly do appreciate all you have done for us.  We've even made it through the trying times when told not to talk to you.  You guys are like our family and appreciate everything!

Members of the Blue Spruce Riding Club & Becky:  Thank you for everything.  It will not be forgotten.

Lori, Michelle, Amy, Nicole, Sam, Eden, Destiny and Chessica:  Thanks for being the best boarders/friends anyone could ask for.  We look forward to a long future together.

Christy and Rick:  You guys have been so good to us too.  Words can't come close to our appreciation of all you did for us and Dale when we were in a terrible position.

Marcia & Ron:  You guys have been there from the start and are like our family too.  It's been a long time since you set Rich and I up and we need to make more time to get together and have some fun.

Leo & Irene: We love you very much and appreciate your support and love during the good times and all those trying times we had.  All you have done has been greatly appreciated and we sincerely want to thank you for everything!

They say you find out who your friends are when things are at their lowest and we certainly did.  The list goes on and on for us, and for that we are thankful.  These kinds of good friends are hard to find and we have been blessed with a very special and supportive group.  God bless you all!

We have posted some pictures of the horses and our family in the photo album that we'd like to share with you. Your are always welcome to email us any time.  We'd be willing to share pictures, so feel free to send them to me and we'll post them.

If you are interested any Gypsy, Drum horses, foals or crosses, feel free to email us.  We will be offering foals for sale in-utero.  If we don't have what you are looking for, we will certainly help find the right horse for you.  We are available if you have questions on any Gypsy or Drum show points or need registration questions answered also.

ImageWe offer a limited amount of boarding at our farm for a reasonable price.  We feed excellent quality hay and grain which is kept sealed in containers to keep rodents out.  We have 3 run in sheds outside in the pastures.  We only board as many horses as we have stalls so they can be brought in during inclement weather conditions.  Stalls are big draft size.  We also have a few cats/kittens which patrol the area that offer their help in rodent control.  We are veterinary recommended and can provide references for you.  We always have some nice kittens free to good homes.  We try to handle them as much as we can.
