For the past six years, Velona has been torn by war. The king of Grindor's half-brother, Hextor, took hold of the ancient castle at Thenelakossi and built a mighty army to wage war on Grindor's king, Heironeous. The feud between Heironeous and Hextor was long standing, spanning back to when they were aspiring youngmen and Heironeous gained their father's favor. The feud between the two brothers was ultimately sealed when their father, Aldaron, chose Heironeous as his heir. The fighting started outright upon Aldaron's death. With the support of Grindor's army Heironeous easily kept hold of the throne that was rightfully his. Hextor sought to find power elsewhere and wasn't heard from for decades.

Just over a year ago, word game to the ears of Heironeous that Thenelakossi had been overthrown and overrun with an army of frightening evils. A quick probing expedition by Heironeous's favorite knight, Sir Theodore Wallace, revealed the army was lead by Hextor. Shortly after sending his rider with word, Sir Theodore was captured, and presumed killed. A great and terrible war ensued. Hextor gained great victories into territories once held by Cydonia, bringing another kingdom into the fight. Well all hope seemed lost, a great force was risen to aide the Cydonians by their allies in Thelona.

After the War between Heironeous and Hextor, Hextor has fled with the defeat of his army. Heironeous and his allies power are solidified in this region. Most of the east is still recovering, or remains under harsh tyrannies of Hextor's supporters, or just those who took an opportunity. The citizens do their best to rebuild their civilizations, and do what they can for their spirits.
