WHAT ARE THE PROBLEMS FACED BY THE AGRICULTURAL SECTOR
- The first problem is that there is a Shortage of land well because Singapore is a small island so there is not much of a space to grow any crops for us
- Not enough people as you know already Singapore is a small island and so there is not many people on this small island to grow any crops,
- Very few people want to do farming as they are either lazy or they have no time for any farming.
- Not enough resources as there is not enough fertile soil, not enough space, there is also not enough people. So with out these problem, there is not enough resources to grow.
- We do not know much about high tech farming like aeroponics, htdroponics etc as they either have not learn about it or they have not heard about hydroponics.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT FOR SINGAPORE TO BE SELF-SUFFICIENT FOR FOOD
- So that we can less depend on other countries for food sources and we will not have to worry about the any problems and
- We can sell the food for cheaper prices to our own people and the cost will not include tax, import fees and many more other fees
- so We can have our own source of food and do not worry about insufficient or too much food as we can control the amount of the food we want and the type of food so
- We do not need to worry that the other country will poison us as we already have our own food supply.
WAYS TO ACHIEVE SELF-SUFFICIENCY IN SINGAPORE
We can use High-tech farming techniques, like agrotechnology aeroponics, hydroponics.
- Maybe multiple sources of food like from animal eg: poultry, dairy etc
- OR we can clear more lands so that there is more place for farming
HOW IS SINGAPORE SUCCESSFUL IN ACHIVING SELF-SUFFICIENCY (WHAT ARE THE LIMITATIONS ,IMPLICATIONS, IMPLICATIONS?
The Limitations are
- We cannot grow certain types of plants because of the humid weather of Singapore.
- And we cannot grow a lot of plant crops because of the limitation of land.
The Implications is
- Singaporeans will have enough vegetable to eat as we have grown enough food for ourselves.
SUGGEST WAYS TO ACHIEVE SELF SUFFICIENCY (BE CREATIVE)
We can grow food at the sea bank near Singapore and by doing so we can have more space to grow crops.
Create a under water farm at the shallow waters. Why there, you might ask, well because at that shallow water, the plants still can get the sunlight and make food with out any obstruction
Roof-top farming and by doing so we can save space and the plants can grow healthily as they can reach for the sunlight they need
Using high tech farming techniques, like agrotechnology aeroponics, and others
