Packet paths to EOC centers in the Maritimes.
April 2009
St.John NB. Area.
St.John can be connected from all Maritimes node listing. Connect to VE9SJW as primary node. From there VE9IP-10 which is an RMS/CMS Winlink system. Second path to St.John also works good. Connect to VE9EMG-4 from any node listing. Then connect to VE9EMG-5, which is a 2 meter spare drop for that area. Now that VE9JSW is the primary node, activity on spare radio is almost non active. Soon to get more info from St.John area.
Fredericton NB. Area.
Fredricton area can be connected thru all Maritime Node listing. Connect to VE9EMD-4, then connect to VE9EMD-5,then VE9EMJ-1. One of the EMO pbbs. From VE9EMD-4 CONNECT to VE9EMD, then VE9EHQ-1 the other EMO pbbs. Both of these tnc's are side by side in EMO headquarters. VE9AI-1 is active in that area, he can be reached from either VE9SIX, or from the EMO network at VE9EMD- 5,then VE9DGP-1 YES, he is on both frequencies.
WOODSTOCK,NB Area.
When you are in the Fredricton area node of VE9EMD-4, just connect VE9CCR, then on to VE9DKS-1 which is Danny's PBBS in Simonds, NB. This node is new in that area, so in time there should be a bit of packet activity.
Charlottetown, PEI. Area.
Same as all others, from any node listing within the Maritimes you can connect to it. Connect to VY2EMO-4, this is the EMO Network Gateway, then connect to VY2EMO, which is a 220 radio drop for the EOC, when in operation. For the local BBS, connect from VY2EMO-4 to VE1AIC. There is also a 2m LAN node, VE1CRA-1 available on 147.510mhz.
Truro, NS. Area.
From any node listing, connect to VE1TPN-4, which is the EMO gateway in Truro, then connect to VE1TPN-5, this is the EMO 2 meter drop for Truro, on frequency of 145.650 mhz. For the exercise they will be using VE1TRO node, available on all node listings. Callsign to use will be the clubstation VE1AO. As of this update, they have up and running Winpack. VE1TAL is the TruroLan, available from any node list in the Maritimes. At this time there is some problems with the Lan Node. At this update of April 05/2009, still dont know if VE1TAL is working for them. The normal UHF path to the Truro LAN is down so there are two other routes. From any node listing, connect to VE1TPN-4, which is the EMO gateway in Truro. VE1TPN-5 this is the EMO 2 meter drop for Truro, on frequency of 145.650 mhz. The Truro LAN node is VE1TAL on 145.07 and reachable from most other nodes in the network ????...Is this correct? VE1TRO, a very bad idea to have local users on a .01 network node. As mentioned above, should be either on VE1TPN-5 or VE1TAL.???
Amherst NS. Area.
Amherst is on the VE1NET-1 Parrsboro LAN Node. Freq is 147.570 mhz. From there VE1BXK is available, which is a FBBS mailbox. At this time VE1EMX-7 Node is available from any Maritime node list. Also available will be VE1EMX, which is an FBBS. Active packet station are VE1JBL-1, VA1MAB, VE1AFH and I am sure that there are more. Doing an MH at NET-1 will show who has recently use the node. Update April 12/09: For Exercise Handshake, connect to VE1EMX-7, log in with callsign and password, (use first name), and at prompt, type in CONV. This will put all operators in converse mode. Everyone will be able to talk to each other during exercise.
Halifax, NS. Area.
VE1PKT, from any Node listing in the Maritimes. You will also have available in the Halifax area VE9HRE-10 which is a Winlink RMS/CMS node. At this time there is more than that in the metro Halifax, but have not gone looking as to what is what. PS: If someone for the Halifax area is reading this, could you please send me updates to your area.
Moncton, NB. Area.
Moncton can be reached like all other places in the Maritimes. From any node listing just connect to VE1PRM-9, which is the MonctLAN frequency of 147.420 mhz. Once there you will find a variety of activities. You can connect to VE1FUN, which the FBBS mailbox. Connect to VE9SC-10, Winlink RMS/CMS gateway node, opereated by Stephen Conrad VE9SC. Plus we have a WINFBBS at the Codiac RCMP heardquarters, VE9MPF. (This station will actually be on the air within the next few weeks. It is now under beta testing.) -Tri County club packet station VE9TCA-1, this will be the EOC for any emergencies. TNC is a KPC3, with its own PBBS for message handling. - MAARC clubstation will soon have their packet station up and running by end of April. -Plus a number of active packeteers are also available on the MonctonLAN, ex: VE1AJF, VE9JJS, VE9FP, VE9BUF, VE9MDB,VE9SC,VE9MCD , just to name a few. This list is provided with the info that is available at this time. Updates from different centers/location, etc will be posted as to available information.
Greenwood-Kingston Area.
VE1AMA and VE1PPR's packet info. We operate an AMPRNet TNOS station here in the Greenwood-Kingston area on HF/VHF and UHF. Our LAN frequency 144.990, HF is "NETWORK 105" on 14.105LSB and UHF backbone to the MARCAN on 441.1. Our local VHF node is VE1WN. The BBS part of the TNOS system forwards to VE1FUN, Moncton VE1AIC, Charlottetown and KA0MOS on the south shore of NS. The TNOS system consists of a BBS, an HF port to "NETWORK 105" in continous service since 1986 which covers most of Canada and the US as well as the Caribbean and South America. It also has a DX-Cluster, VE1PPR-2, a built in call book lookup and weather reports available. The AMPRNet portion of it allows connection to a world wide node database. It can handle packet mail as well as e-mail of an Amateur Radio nature or between Amateurs and of course messaging for ARES, Red Cross, EMO etc... You can also telnet to our station as well using a program called PuttyTel or Winpack 6.80.
