Welcome to my website! I am a New York State Licensed Mental Health Counselor specializing in Women's Issues. My practice is focused on helping women of all ages improve self-esteem, assertiveness, relationship satisfaction, and stress management. I help women cope with the emotional challenges of parenting, reproductive events, romantic relationships, post-traumatic stress, school and career demands, life transitions, and body image issues. My approach to counseling emphasizes techniques of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I help my my clients clearly identify the causes of their problems and provide lively, solution focused feedback during sessions. Many of my clients appreciate the coaching atmosphere of our sessions in which they learn how to implement strategies to make positive changes in their lives. My clients learn that discovering the past or present reasons why they are unhappy or stressed is not enough! Unlike "insight focused" therapy, I will help you clearly see the ways in which YOU are in charge of your emotional destiny!! I have extensive training in a specific form of CBT known as Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT). This is a highly effective, scientifically based treatment approach that helps my clients make meaningful changes in their unhealthy patterns of thinking and behaving. Homework assignments are an integral part of REBT. My clients benefit from keeping logs of their thoughts, feelings and behaviors. I also encourage my clients to read articles and books to reinforce the strategies they are learning during sessions. My clients also participate in specialized "risk-taking" activities and exercises to help develop self-esteem and confidence.
