Virtual Console Memory Sizes

Welcome to the list of Virtual Console game sizes

Virtual Console is a service for the Nintendo Wii that allows gamers to purchase and download games originally from older consoles. The games are saved on Wii's internal 512 MB flash memory, which is the equivalent of more than 2000 so called "memory blocks". Once the memory is full, Virtual Console games can no longer be downloaded, and to free space you have to delete games or move them to SD cards (note that deleted games can be redownloaded with no extra cost, and games on SD cards need to be moved back in order to be played). The goal of this site is to provide a comprehensive list of the amount of memory blocks each game takes, in order to help people plan their purchases or simply cure their curiosity.

Games are listed alphabetically within their consoles (NES, SNES, N64, Genesis and TurboGrafx, plus Wii Ware), and each game has one bracket for each region, as different game versions tend to differ in size, aswell as one for the size of the save file.

As we can't possibly get all of the games ourselves to find out, we rely heavily on contributions. If you have a game which doesn't have its size listed for your region, please send an email to
vcsizes@gmail.com
You will get credit.
Remember to state which game and console, aswell as your region of purchase and (of course) the game size in memory blocks. This can be found by going to the Wii options menu (bottom left circle in channel menu), select Data Management and then Channels, select the game in question and you should see the number of blocks written in a small box. Remember to pick Channels rather than Save Data, as the numbers there are for the game saves rather than the games themselves.

The sizes of the game saves are all the same for a particular console, so for a full total of the block number, add the following:
Nintendo Entertainment System games: 1
Super NES games: 4
Nintendo 64 games: 1
Sega Genesis/Mega Drive games: 2
Turbografx 16 games: 4
Wii Ware saves are irregular, so they have a seperate column for each channel save size.
