Hi,

I got recommended to send you guys a message. I am 19 & I live just down the road in Grays & I am looking for a team to join / somewhere to learn / practice.

Wondering if you have any spaces.

Many Thanks

Hi Dean apologies for the delay in replying, we are playing at Tilbury football club on the 26th of January, you are welcome to come and take a look, its to late to sign on for this season, but would be worth coming to get to know people and see what goes on, on match night, if you cant make that , just check fixture list on this site for future dates for ockendon. cheers.

Totally agree Paul, it seemed to me that most teams had trouble picking 8 players out of the 15 or so signed on... I really dont know why they didnt keep it the same as last year in this respect. People who are maybe not as strong as others but who have turned up week after week will no longer be likely to get a game, not the spirit of darts as I know it. Maybe time to look for another league.... and just who did vote this in? I know we didnt!

How many teams struggled last year to field 8 players on a regular basis , the only one that springs to mind is the Whitehart who have now dropped out of the league.in my opinion all this new format will do is make the stronger teams stronger. All those squad players who would have played most games last year will now be lucky to get a game when the result is already decided, When they get fed up and stop playing what do we do next year make it 5 singles and then 4 until there is no league at all. This is from a captain of a team who will probably have a better chance of winning something. But personally i would rather win nothing than have players turning up week after week in the hope that they might get a game in the singles. Who voted this in , i cant believe it was the team captains as most games last year there were players sitting out , and that was with 8 singles let alone 6. i for one is not looking forward to the new season which is a first for me.

Well my neck has just gone down after being throtled by a member of the opposing team and my ears are not red anymore after being called a cunt, amoungst other things, by the opposing team, but i have to agree with you Goose.
At the end of the day its a game and a night out, not the be all and end all ! We all want to win the league but you dont do it on 1 game, its a season thing.
Thanks to all who were friendly towards us after the game and just lets hope the others realise its just a game after all.

In the absence of a final match report, I will give my take. Ockendon beat TCC A 6-5 in an unpleasant match.
The defeat meant TCC A had to settle for 2nd place in the league and they felt aggrieved at the team that we selected.
That should not excuse the behaviour of a few of their players. There have been letters of complaint etc. Personally,
I would rather all the nonsense stopped and allowed us all to play future games in the right spirit.
