Percy's Puppy Diary
I thought that instead of just pictures I would tell you milestones on how he is growing and developing - as to when his eyes open and he begins to hear.
13/5/09
Tia and son are doing really well - he is growing bigger every time we look at him. His colour is a beautiful shiny chocolate brown. We are amazed at how well Tia is handling motherhood. She licks him constantly - keeping him cleaned and stimulating his body functions - to which she licks up. We have seen her pick him up by the neck to bring him closer to her. Every time he squeaks she is there, giving him feeds from her milk bar - he has a lot to choose from. Tia has now started taking a little break from him, making sure that he is snuggled into the fleece blanket not to get cold.
Tia and son - he has a name now - Percy, are being cared for on a 24 hour basis by my son, who went for the first 48 hours with hardly any sleep as he would'nt leave them, and sleeps with them all night.

14/5/09 Percy is 4 days old today - and he is 6 and a half inches long from nose to tail - about the size of my hand. He moves quickly when he needs feeding, using a crawling walk. He feeds every two hours. Tia washes him a lot and to wash his bottom she sometimes has his bottom in the air with his head on the ground. If she wants to move him closer, she picks him up by the neck and moves him closer.
Percy and Tia have been on their first outing - he had a feed on the journey in the travel box to the vet. He was delighted to see us and to meet Percy.He checked his heart with a stethescope and checked inside his mouth. Percy is a very healthy boy - and Tia has lots of milk to feed him and more. Tia was checked over, and he said she was healthy too, and to see what a good mummy she is to Percy.
15/5/09 The remote control is 7 and a half inches long.
16/5/09 6 days old today and he seems to have grown bigger since yesterday. I have seen him twitching in his sleep today - dreaming. Will weigh Percy tomorrow.
17/5/09 Percy is a week old today and he is now 13 and three quarter ounces - he is nearly a pound in weight, and is growing bigger every day. He still has his eyes closed, and is now beginning to use his legs, trying to push himself up to walk, using his back legs. Tia is constantly washing and grooming him. Tia still loves her honey pork sausages, and her appetite is still dainty and is gettting some Lactol milk to drink.
18/5/09 Tia had just finished giving him a good wash after his feed and I now need two hands to hold him.
19/5/09 My son Stuart was having a cuddle from Percy today and he licked his hand a few times - so he is over the moon.
21/5/09 Tia is slowly getting her appetite back and has managed some of her normal dog food - its great to see her hungry at long last. Every time we look at Percy - he seems to have grown - and gives us a little squeak now and then. We hear him when he is feeding off Tia. No sign of his eyes opening yet.
23/5/09 Yesterday Percy got his nails filed as they were growing and scratching Tia. Tia has regained her appetite big time, and its nice to see her enjoying her food agian. Percy got a cuddle from Radley, his daddy, yesterday and just adores him. Percy is being well looked after from mummy, and its nice to hear him feeding, the noise is just like a baby makes.
24/5/09 Big news today, Percy is two weeks old and now has his eyes open - and he weighs 1lb 7 and a half ounces, so has trebled his birth weight - he is beginning to move around more and make more noises.
25/5/09 Trying to get a pic with his eyes open - but the flash upsets hime - but got this pic of daddy wanting to give him a cuddle - Radley just adores him and cant wait for him to play - but Tia not happy about him interfering. Yesterday he moved home - from whelping box to cage with lots of space for Percy to explore.
27/5/09 Its official - keneel name is now Vadmar's Percy Going Solo chosen by his new family - and we love it. He is beginning to stand and try to walk now - but back legs not strong enough yet.
29/5/09 This is Percy getting a drink from Tia - and you can see he has outgrown the remote control now. He was lying on his back and feeding at one point. And one of his beautiful face with eyes open. He has special visitors coming to meet him on Sunday.
30/5/09 Percy had a little wander today - and escaped from his cage - he is beginning to get mobile now on his hunt to find Tia. He is wagging his tail now. He woke himself up from his sleep by giving a bark lol. He has made his second bid for freedom now - so he is well on the move.
31/5/09 Percy got lots of cuddles today - and is looking forward to playing with his new family in two weeks time - when he is bigger and can nibble on their fingers.
1/6/09 Percy is moving a bit more today - and just squeaks if he is wanting some attention, which he always gets. His daddy Radley sneaks in to keep him company, and to make sure that Tia has'nt missed any bits when she has licked him, when Tia goes outside. Percy now weighs 2.2lbs. We visited the vet today to get weigherd and to start Percy and Tia on their worming tablet. Percy has a liquid one to take for three days. Percy also christened the vet by having a little piddle on his hand. Both are healthy - and Tia still has a lot of milk.
2/6/09 Percy is up more on his four paws today and walking about, and making more noise lol. My son slept in his own bed last night and left Tia to look after him. Here is a lovely picture taken by his new family on Sunday when they came to visit. He is now three weeks old.
4/5/09 Last night Percy came out to play and was trying to climb my sons leg. His little tail wagging, and trying to follow Tia. Percy now steps back into the cage when he is feeling tired, to curl up beside mum. Picture taken at 4pm tonight - out for a stroll.
5/6/09 Percy started on his weaning today and licked his food from a plate, hes a clever boy. He was having a little run on the floor, tail wagging and is now having a cuddle.
6/6/09 Percy is doing well today, he is eating about half a teaspoon of food and he loves cuddles and company. He is growing. He is now beginning to play, and was trying to bite Tia today - but he has no teeth yet.
7/6/09 Percy sleeping on Tia after playing. Tia got a bath today and a haircut and is joining in play with Radley and Cherie. She follows Percy about when he is out making sure he is behaving himself when he is exploring. He tried scrambled eggs today but hes not sure on the taste.
8/6/09 Percy is now 4 weeks old and he has his first two teeth popping through at the top. He still sleeps a lot and comes out to play for a while, then takes himself back for a catnap and a drink from mum. He is enjoying little tastes of food.
10/6/09 Percy has been eating some scrambled eggs in the morning from Tia's plate. He is just having little tastes of food - like cheese and ham. He loves to play with Cherie and Radley. When he squeaks for his mummy - Tia leaves him for a while as she is teaching him to be patient. He had some tuna tonight and now has 4 teeth. - two on the bottom and two on the top.
11/6/09 Percy is up and running about more today - he had a walk through to the kitchen to have a little nosey around. When he has had enough he takes himself back to his cage for a little nap. He is now starting to play, - and loves slippers. His weaning onto food is going slowly - he just has little tastes.
14/6/09 Percy is 5 weeks old today and loves to play - last night he had chicken for tea - and he was lazy and ate it lying down with his head in the bowl. Tia is not feeding him hardly at all. Here he is giving mum a cuddle, and learning to play with a ball.
15/6/09 Percy was outside in the garden today - and hes just not sure about grass yet, but got lots of licks from the gang. He also had a large helping of chicken for lunch and a good drink of water, and Tia and Percy settled down for a nap together.
16/6/09 Percy has had a busy day playing with the little boy next door, and having a trip by car to the vet for his weigh in - he is now 2lb 7oz. The vet thinks he is Stunning, and is very healthy happy little boy, and Tia has done well looking after him and playing with him.
18/6/09 Percy seems to be growing overnight - and is following us and his poodle pals everywhere. He even tried to eat Ziva's dinner. He still trying to get a drink from Tia - but her milk has gone now. He sleeps a lot, and when wakened he is running and bouncing along wagging his tail. He had his worming tablet yesterday - and he hated the taste making funny faces and noises.
19/6/09 Percy had mince tonight and loved it. He is getting faster on his legs now and loves to play fight with them all. He loves exploring now, and even trying to eat off Tia's plate.
20/6/09 Percy has been playing in the garden today exploring the rockery - and the hole that Cherie and Ziva have made in their escape tunnel to Australia. Clean plate at supper time - he had tripe - and absolutely loved it - he managed to leave the pattern on! Percy is spending a bit more time awake sniffing the ground and teasing the girls.
21/6/09 Percy is 6 weeks old today - where has the time gone. He has had fun in the garden, and loves following everyone around. He licked my face tonight - and has been biting fingers and toes. He also took a liking to my slipper. Percy loves cuddles.
22/6/09 Percy is a very clever boy - he can now get out the back door and step down - well flying jump - and goes back again himself. Hes now having a nap snuggled in with Ziva, who has done her best to get him up to play again.
24/6/09 Percy now has a mouthful of needle teeth and loves to use them! He had some pork last night which he loved. We have to watch him as he is now trying to climb stairs, and has been exploring the garden. He still loves a little suckle from Tia - and suprised that she is letting him with all that little sharp teeth -and is spending more time awake now, and just takes himself back to his bed when he is tired.
26/6/09 Im watching Tia and Percy play together- she lets him climb all over her - and lets him play bite her face and pull her ears, she has shown a different side, and every time Percy sees her he runs towards her. Percy knows his name and wags his tail and comes to you.
28/06/09 Percy is 7 weeks old today - and has his own personality - he knows what he wants and will squeak to let you know it. He runs and has been practicing the poodle strut stepping out in style. He has now had his face, paws and tail trimmed - and looks so angelic. Tia is now running away from him when he trys to suckle - and gives him into trouble if he gets to boistrous.
29/6/09 Percy has found the stairs and does his best to climb them - and manages up to the small landing if we let him, he is a very adventurous little boy. He loves to play fight with Cherie and Ziva, and all three of them had a rest in the dog bed today.
2/7/09 Percy loves out in the garden - and the rockery is his favourite place - trying to flatten all the plants. He has turned into a lovely cheeky boy who loves to play with anything and everything and loves to explore. Two sleeps - and Percy leaves to go to his new family, who I know are very excited. Percy is having his first bath tomorrow and will post a last picture of him looking gorgeous.
3/7/09 Percy had a bath today - and he is not impressed with water all, and thought he was getting murdered by the sound of him when I used the dryer. Tia was on hand in case I did anything wrong. This is Percy's last entry - and I am sure his new Mummy will send us lots of pics for a new page with his new family. We will miss him, but know he is going to be loved and treasured in his new home.
