About VACC

The Vancouver Association of Chinese Canadians, an anti-racism and human rights organization and member of the Chinese Canadian National Council has reorganized as Association of Chinese Canadians for Equality and Solidarity (ACCESS).

ACCESS works in coalition with other equality seeking organizations to fight racism, to advance the rights of migrants living in Canada (www.refugees.freeservers.com) and to press the federal government to redress the Chinese Head Tax and Exclusion Act (www.ccnc.ca/redress).

Please check our links to pages on our past activities: raising funds to assist the landslide victims in Leyte, Philippines; the National Conference on Full Participation; and Chinese Canadian Heritage.

Our Objectives

The purposes of the Association are:

  1. To advocate for the rights of all Canadians, particularly Chinese Canadians and encourage their full and equal participation in Canadian society.

  2. To advocate for an environment in Canada in which the rights of all individuals are recognized, protected and respected.

  3. To promote understanding and cooperation between Chinese Canadians of different backgrounds, and between the Chinese Canadian community and other communities.

  4. To encourage Chinese Canadians to know and respect their history and cultural heritage.

  5. To educate all Canadians of the benefits of harmonious race relations and the need for cross-cultural awareness, and to encourage an appreciation for the racial and cultural diversity in our society.

  6. To facilitate political awareness and participation among Canadians, especially Chinese Canadians.
