Nebula mission pods can only be switched out at a Fleet starbase. The saucer section can separate from the secondary hull, but the two can be re-attached to each other only at a starbase. The saucer section can propel itself using maneuvering thrusters and warp drive.
Nebula ships have a choice of six mission pod types to choose from. They are the habitation/colony pod, hospital pod, sensor pod, shuttlebay/hangar pod, tactical pod, and weapons pod. The tactical pod is the default.
