LATEST NEWS:   Announcing FREECARL.COM   the new website for Carl Malaskiewics-Blaise and his struggle to find freedom and justice in Canada.

Carl Malaskiewicz-Blaise is a US citizen being held in a Canadian immigration detention centre, just outside Montreal, in Laval, Quebec. He has been locked up since May 2007.

Carl attracted the attention of the US Secret Service when he drew cartoons depicting then Governor George W. Bush, while incarcerated on unrelated charges. Those charges were then trumped up and other allegations were made.  

The government coerced Carl into pleading guilty with empty promises. After pleading guilty the government cooked-up a pre-sentence report full of contradictions and lies. This report was in turn used to justify greatly increasing Carl prison sentence.

After serving his time, Carl traveled to Canada to claim political asylum.

May 22, 2008:   Carl has another court appearance at 9:00am on Thursday, May 22, 2008 at the Guy Favreau Complex (map).  It is one block away from the Place-d'Armes Metro Station. If you are in the Montreal area come and show your support.

May 5, 2008:  Carl and his Lawyer have decided to ask the Federal Court to hear his case. I have posted the Application for Judicial Review as a web page and as pdf.
