About Me
I am a community development, human rights and humanitarian relief worker from Pakistan. I hail from the city of Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province. I have studied engineering from NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi, Pakistan and Economics and Management of Rural Development from Institute for Development Policy and Management, University of Manchester, UK. I have about seventeen years' experience of working in the field of sustainable community development, capacity building and humanitarian response with a special focus on water resource management. I have worked on various projects funded by The World Bank, The Netherlands Government, Department for International Development (UK), The Asian Development Bank and the United Nations.
I am a fellow of Leadership for Environment and Development (LEAD) International, which is a global forum of future leaders committed to a vision of a more sustainable and equitable world.
I am a member of Registered Engineers for Disaster Relief, an international coalition of professionals working in humanitarian relief
My Interests
I am very interested in cross-cultural communication to foster a better understanding between all the inhabitants of this planet. I am a polyglot and speak six languages fluently and can communicate in two more. I am fond of travelling and have visited UK, The Gambia, The Netherlands, Brazil, China, Singapore, Dubai, Russia, Armenia, Bangladesh, Qatar, Nepal, Afghanistan, India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Sweden and Jordan.
My professional interests include theory and practice of sustainable development, institutional transformation, leadership and management. I am particularly interested in the political eceonomy of production, processing and dissemination of information.
Lately, I have developed a renewed interest in studying the economic aspects of natural resource management with a particular reference to the ancient, yet still prevalent practice of Spate Irrigation in the arid areas of the world.
My personal interests include study of culture, literature, poetry and art.
