Hello! My name is Rhonda Causton. My husband "Paul" & I have been specializing in the captive care and propagation of spiny tailed agamas also known as Uromastyx  for the past six years. Sadly, there is a great deal of stress on the wild populations which are continuing to be exploited for the pet trade. Unfortunately, wild caught imports are difficult to acclimate and often arrive to their destinations in very poor health.The statistics are staggering! For evey hundred animals brought in to this country only about ten will reach the retail market alive! While I don't believe we can stop the pet trade from importing wild life, I do believe we can educate genuine, reptile enthusiasts about the importance of captive breeding programs. It has been a success story for many other reptile species such as leopard geckos, ball pythons and corn snakes etc. There is very little need to import any of these species from their native home because they are bred in captivity, world wide, in large numbers!

   I saw my first Uromastyx about nine years ago and fell in love! After months of research I purchased a pair of uromastyx Geyri. From then on my collection grew! Now I have Uromastyx maliensis, macfadyeni & ocelleta ornata. I just love them all! I' m also proud to say that we are the first in Canada(to our knowledge) to successfully captive breed Uromastyx Geyri. There is still so much to learn about these beautiful lizards! I've kept and bred many other reptile species over the years but now I have chosen to focus only on the Uromastyx(and the odd fat tail gecko.) They are a great species to work with. It is such a shame that they are so often over looked and under rated by other herp hobbyists. Hopefully this site will help others see the beauty in this species too.
