28th October 2009 Public Announcement
We are delighted to announce that the Uptown Players (Amateur) Drama Group, based at the Hampden Park Community Association Hall, Brodrick Road, Eastbourne, East Sussex, have reached the last stage of The People's Millions Lottery Fund Application.
We will be appearing on ITV Meridian on Wednesday 25th November 2009.
Our group will go head-to-head with another organisation who are also seeking lottery funds for their project in 2010. The Project we have in mind is based around the '70th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain' and will explore how Eastbourne and its population were affected. The town is reported to have endured more bombing than any other along the south coast. We will be performing a one act play and will be acting out letters, poems and monologues. It is our intention to have a 1940s dance night as well as holding a street party with authentic food from that era. With these much needed funds, the Uptown Players will also be purchasing new 'main stage' curtains and these will be presented to the community as our donation for everyone to use in the future.
We would like to ask if everyone could support us so that we may continue to run our group and help to give something back to the community hall as well.
Once both groups have been shown on this day, it will go to the public vote (by phone), and will be announced the following day.
