WHAT'S THE CLUB ALL ABOUT ANYWAY?
The club is a venue for dance training, fitness conditioning, and recreation specifically geared towards street dance.
WHAT'S STREET DANCE?
Street Dance is a term we use to cover all forms of stylized dance and its variations like hip-hop, funk,
break dancing, jamming, retro and others.
WHEN DOES THE CLUB MEET AND FOR HOW LONG?
We hold regular clubbing sessions twice a week (Monday and Wednesday). Trainings start with a one-hour ministry (5-6pm on Mondays and
1-2pm on Wednesdays). This is open even to non-members. Training can last from 2 to 3 hours depending on the dance masta's
moods and preferences. Extra sessions may be required when preparing for shows and performances. There's also the company class that is held
every Wednesday and Saturday.
WHAT EXACTLY DO YOU DO IN A CLUBBING SESSION?
Basically, we follow a training method wherein clubbers undergo physical conditioning for strength, endurance and flexibility on top of learning
and honing dance skills and movements. So expect a lot of muscle-conditioning exercises for the legs, arms, back, and abs, stretching exercises for
flexibility, isolation exercises for better muscle control and coordination, and a lot of dance combinations exercises. The purpose of the whole thang is
to give you the best possible fitness foundation and to push you into going beyond the known limitations of your body. (Yeouchh!!!) Hey, you wanna be a
mean kick-ass dancer, right? Then work hard for it!
OK, OK, I'M GAME!!! SO, WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME?
Aside from the privilege of being in one of the coolest clubs in the University of the Philippines, (canned laughter here)
you also have a lot of stuff to look forward to. From time to time, we will be having public shows and performances where you can
strut your stuff. Also, if you happen to be one of the really "hataw" members, (talent-wise), you may have a chance to join the elite group
called The Crew. The Crew is composed of select dancers from the club who will be tasked with representing it in various
competitions and shows.
