DEAD KENNEDYS

THE FORUM,ABERDEEN 22-06-02

THIS GIG WAS A WHILE BACK.CAN REMEMBER IT BEING GREAT LISTENING TO SOME OF MY FAVE PUNK SONGS AGAIN.. BUT NO JELLO BIAFFRA BUT WAS FRONTED BY BRANDON CRUZ (Brandon Cruz is the singer for DR. KNOW, a punk band that has been around since the early '80s. Dr. Know plays in the old school punk tradition, and their blistering live shows prove they haven't missed a step. Brandon Cruz is also known for having played Eddie Corbett on the TV series "The Courtship of Eddie's Father." )...BUT MET EAST BAY RAY + KLAUS FLUORIDE AFTER GIG..

LEMON TREE,ABERDEEN 16-03-06

This being sals 1st time seeing them, i will let her tell u about it..

No support band so Stiff Little Fingers came on early and blew us all away. It was the first time I'd seen them and the millionth for Dod and Mo (ok exaggeration... but put it this way, I was 6 the first time Dod saw them play!! Laughing ) Alan McCordy was back as bassist after a long while away from the band and he looked chuffed to be there. They had everyone jumping from the start and played classics such as Johnny Was, Suspect Device, Fly the Flag, Wasted Life and Alternative Ulster. They were full of energy and sounded great. Punk at it's best!!! Maximum Rock!

Not many pics as was stopped from taking any after a few:

JOHN OTWAY

CAFE DRUMMOND,ABERDEEN 24-02-06

The 54 year old John Otway came on stage saying the very true sounding "I know I don't look like a pop star..." but proceeded to wow us with his punk/poet/singer/musician/comedian talents. This was one crazy guy who had the crowd in stitches all through the night. He sung 'Space Oddity' in his fathers broad yorkshire accent, sang 'Head Butts' whilst butting the microphone, did 'You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet' and proceeded to throw himself around the stage in more outrageous ways, and even placed sound pads on his body and hit himself to make noise!! The double ended guitar had people in hysterics as did a punk version of 'Rumplestiltskin' for children! Unbelievably (but true) his lyrics to "Beware of the Flowers" was voted the UK's 7th best ever written lyric, of which he was very chuffed about! He reminded me of a hyperactive child, and soon blew away the image of an ageing pop star. Someone who'd seen him before said that this gig was the worst one he'd seen so far... if that's Otway on an off night, his best must be mind blowing!

THE BUZZCOCKS

LEMON TREE,ABERDEEN 21-03-06

The Buzzcocks were good as they should be but seemed to lack the firey enthusiasm SLF had had. It took a while for the crowd to get into it, but soon enough people were throwing themselves around the dance floor. A mixture of old and new songs were played, pretty much one after another with no time to breathe in between. The hits of theirs were (of course) the best accepted with What Do I Get, Orgasm Addict, Harmony In My Head and Ever Fallen In Love With Someone getting the best reactions. Even though the boys were pushing on a bit in years they looked really happy to be there and it's great to see them still pleasing the crowds. Jamming

MARKY RAMONE

THE TUNNELS ABERDEEN 18-07-06

Well it was a great nite, went down to the tunnels + met Claire (from Anti-product) who i had met at a previous gig when they played as an all girl tribute band called the Ramonas..To check that it was still ok to film the gig and take photos which was ok...
while we was speaking to claire found out it was there 1st gig,and they had rehearsed only that afternoon...

the gig was great, lots of Ramones hits done..
Blitzkreig bop
rock,n,roll high school
sheena is a punk rocker
pet semetary
kkk
i wanna be sedated

The crowd enjoyed it very much + so did i, was a lot lot better than i thought it would be..the band was tight played together well so the gigs will get better and better only a short 4 gig tour finishing at the wicker man festival..
atfer the gig returned claires camcorder (as she asked sally to film some for them too)..
Marky is a very quite man and allegedly doesnt do much photos or autographs but in true upsetter style managed to blag my way round the back to get my photo with him and sally too... we were the only ones to get to do this so i am pretty chuffed (happy)

UK SUBS

CAFE DRUMMOND,ABERDEEN 15-8-06

Another blast from the past (cannot remember how long since i last seen them, when i was a teen).. was looking forward to seeing them play, talking to charlie before the gig, seeing his enthiusm at his age is great....
would it be harsh to call him the godfather of punk, at the age of 62..
Despite his advancing years, he continues to tour extensively, typically between 100 and 200 gigs a year. and is on a world tour at the moment.

He still jumps around like a youngster and puts on a great show, playing classics like STRANGLEHOLD,TOMMOROWS GIRLS,CID..
and the crowd loved it, nothing like agood ol punk band to bring out the old skool, good seeing some old mates..

some people was complaining about them playing only for an hour, behave the guy is 62 and punk as fuck..
and puts more into a show than alot of bands younger than him..

me + charlie have a drink..

RETRO REBELS 10TH BIRTHDAY BASH

THE MOORINGS ABERDEEN 9-9-06

Had a great nite at the retro rebels 10th birthday bash, this is a great alternative shop in aberdeen. who also does peircing and tattoos (where i,ve got my last two).

http://www.retrorebels.co.uk/defaultframes.html?infopage.html~mainFrame

This brought all the old skool out from punks to rockabillies as there were two bands on Karloff and high voltage.

karloff

Creeping from the frozen blood shores of Aberdoom, Skulland, this fearsome fivesome have been haunting the stage for some time... Leaving a crimson squelch and a warped smile on the faces of all who behold them... The ghoulish result of an experiment to stitch, bolt and melt together the dead flesh remains of Rock ’n’ Roll, Punk, Metal and 60’s Garage to make something greater than the sum of its parts.
great lads and a great show..

also a great rockabilly band from edinburgh called high voltage..

these are some of my better pics..

THE STRANGLERS

LEMON TREE ABERDEEN 20-09-06

May 2006 saw the departure of Paul Roberts, after sixteen years service with the band. This was an amicable split, with Paul moving on to pursue other musical interests. The band was now a four piece for the first time since Hugh's departure in 1990, with Baz sharing vocal duties alongside JJ.

The stranglers did a warm up gig in aberdeen last nite for loopallu...And boy are they gonna rock da house on friday...
