LOVE WITH ARTHUR LEE

LEMON TREE ABERDEEN 18-02-04

GREAT GIG BY ARTHUR LEE + LOVE...SAD TO HEAR OF HIS DEATH THIS YEAR (2006).

Arthur Lee, legendary singer-songwriter for the influential '60s psychedelic rock band Love, died of leukemia at Methodist Hospital in Memphis this afternoon. He was 61 years old. Several recent benefit concerts, including one at New York City's Beacon Theater featuring Robert Plant, Yo La Tengo and Ryan Adams, raised money to help pay Lee's medical expenses. Love's 1967 LP "Forever Changes" is regularly cited as one of the greatest rock albums ever recorded.

SUGARHILL GANG

LEMON TREE ABERDEEN 21-02-04

The Sugarhill Gang is an American hip hop group, known mostly for one hit, "Rapper's Delight", the first hip hop single to become a Top 40 hit. The track uses the bass line from "Good Times" by CHIC as its foundation. The members, all from New York City, called themselves Wonder Mike, Big Bank Hank, and Master Gee. They were assembled into a group by producer Sylvia Robinson who also founded Sugar Hill Records along with her husband record mogul Joe Robinson.

ROLAN BOLAN

CAFE DRUMMONDS ABERDEEN 10-06-04

I went down town at the last minute to the gig as I had only seen the show poster that day. I just went out of curiosity to see what it would be like; at 11:30pm Café Drummonds was quite full, I spoke to the manager to see if it was okay to take photos and he went and asked Rolan.
Rolan came over to talk and we spoke about it being his first time in Scotland and that things were looking up with his tour; he was really looking forward to it.
Rolan and the band came on stage and played for about 45 minutes, I thought, and so did most of the crowd that Rolan was very good. If I got the chance I would definitely go again.

was good to see and talk about marc (his dad) with him..
