Upper Meramec Bass Club

The Upper Meramec Bass Club will be celebrating 20 years of good times and great fishing tournaments on some of the our finest local rivers including the Meramec, Gasconade & Osage. We also fish on some of the lakes around including Lake of the Ozarks, Tanneycomo, Bulls Shoals, Pomme De Terre and Mark Twain, just to mention a few.

Our 13 tournament schedule covers some of the best fishing waters in Mid-Missouri. Our 2008 UMBC Tournament Schedule started off on November 25, 2007 at Hwy 89 on the Gasconade River and will be ending with our Annual Fish-Off scheduled for October 12, 2008.

Every year we have what is called our Annual Invitational which is held half way thru the tournament schedule, it is usually the first saturday in June,  depending on the year. This year it will be our 20th Annual Invitational and will held on May 31, 2008. With the support of Paul Wilkerson, owner of The Rafting Company, the annual invitational has been held for the last 19 years at his facilities the Rafting Company in Steelville, MO. This tournament can only be fished on the Meramec River. It is not only for just our members but also for non members to fish. There are 7 put-in places that they are allowed to start fishing from and they must be back at the weigh in at 4pm at the Rafting Company. Then all fish are weighed in, winners are announced and door prizes are given away. It is a great time for everyone.  With the wonderful support of our members and their spouses in June 2007 the 19th Annual Invitational marked a club record for the UMBC with 72 boats entering to fish the Annual Invitational tournament.

For this years invitational we wanted to make a few changes since it was the UMBC 20th Annual Invitational. Some of those changes was to pay money for the top 10 places, along with trophies being handed out to the first five places.  Money was also given out to the biggest smallmouth & biggest largemouth bass. We were also able to pay out a 3rd Big Bass, which was sponsored by CRS, Crest Industries, and the winner of that was given a battery pack. Our sponsor, Paul Wilkerson, from The Rafting Company, gave out to the highest and lowest father/son duo of the day, their entry fee back for the day of this invitational.  As a little surprise, the UMBC surprised Paul Wilkerson of The Rafting Company with an engraved plaque for his support and donations during the past 20 years to the UMBC. With no surprise to us we had a total of 62 boats at this years 20th Invitational, despite all the rain and damage from the 2008 Flood on the Meramec and at the Rafting Company, the invitational was still able to go on... Just another great invitational for the UMBC.
