Launch of Student Nurse "Buddy" Scheme                                                                                 09.09.2006

This week an exciting new project has been launced within the school of Nursing at the University of Derby. The scheme aims to be a resource for students new to the university who may require a bit of extra support while they are finding their feet! The scheme has recieved positive feedback from students and lecturers alike with students already getting in touch to discuss any worries or anxieties as well as those having technical difficulties with the University website. The scheme not only benefits students new to the course, but also the third year student's volunteering to be the "Buddies" as the scheme will aid in achieving teaching and mentoring competencies required to pass the course.

The January 2004 cohort are about to qualify. All work is now in and the group are just awaiting confirmation of their results! Several of the cohort have secured jobs already and are due to start work once officially registered! There are more jobs coming up now which is a relief for students soon to qualify after the unease with regards to the job situation over the past year!
