The New Republic Army has established a partnership with the University of Coruscant on creating a Reserve Officer Training Corps for the benefit of the Army itself.  The object of the program is to introduce young adults to the military if they are interested in becoming a soldier.  They are trained from the age of 18 until they are ready for combat with invaders or enemies of the New Republic.  They are also trained for peacekeeping missions in unstable regions of the galaxy.

The New Republic Navy has not created a partnership with the University of Coruscant for an ROTC program yet.
