Most band personnel are used to these questions, especially if they have played in the suburbs of any capital city or a resonable sized town. UNEEVEN don't do any compositions by the aforementioned artists, and in fact would think it cooler to do a Kamahl cover or something by Nina Simone. Grant (drums, guitar, vocals) and Melissa (guitar, vocals) are incredibly selfish when it comes to their repertoire. They play songs that they really dig and if anyone else jumps on board and likes them too, well that is a bonus. They work as a team, as Richie Benaud would say, and do it their way. Yes, truly self-indulgent individuals.
This duo cover a wide variety of styles in their set and will try just about any tune using an energetic stripped back approach.
Some of the songs work better than others, and sometimes they don't work at all, but every song is given a fair chance before it is culled. Some artists covered include Lush, Epicure, The Who, Missy Higgins, Blue Oyster Cult, Paul Kelly, Mary Chapin Carpenter and The La's.
So it is Rockfest time again. We all know that last year it was a Smash Hit. UNEEVEN have many gigs under their belt since then and would like to think that they have improved a hell of a lot. So it will be another dose of unplugged power pop with maybe a few suprises this year. They loved Rockfest last year and you will love it this year, so be there or be square.
