The key to the game will be:
A.E.M.

Making sure that Carolina plays fundementally sound football for the whole game. With all the buzz/hype this team has had of late they have a lot to lose and nothing to gain in this game.
The Pulse

Establishing the run, so that we can successfully get the passing attack going when needed.
What needs to happen for your team to win:
A.E.M.

We need to make sure that the running game works and works well. While we have the talent of Hakeem Nicks and Brandon Tate as our main go to guys on the receiving core, they will benefit a lot more from T.J. Yates' passes if the running backs show their talent early on in the game. So, while in this game it might not matter because of the disparity in teams, what needs to happen is to have a 100 yard rusher in each game for the Heels.
The Pulse

For McNeese State to have any chance in staying in this game they must establish their spread offense in a way where the Heels are guessing and can not have a full out pass rushing scheme. Only with less pressure can the Cowboys make an attempt at being competetive in this game.
What can't happen or your team could lose:
A.E.M.

Let the opponents stay in the game. As I said before, this is on all Carolina, and so the more they keep McNeese State in the ball game, the more that they can begin to believe they have an actual shot. Two, three early scores and make sure they do not react from it and that won't be a factor, but if instead they keep it close the pressure will then mount on the Heels and that is when errors can occur.
The Pulse

McNeese State can not get involved in long drive after long drive. Either with a good return or a turnover the Cowboys have to get good field position. If McNeese St. has to deal with 80 yard drive each time they get the ball they will not be able to handle it.
One player to watch on offense:
A.E.M.

Greg Little. He is going to be the player that begins everything for this new Carolina squad. If the sophomore running back can get the Heels going and make sure that first downs are attained on the ground then the whole offense will open up and the receivers will have a lot less double coverage on them.
The Pulse

Junior quarterback Derrick Fourroux, who can both pass and run the ball with agility. He is the heart and soul of this offense, if he can get it going, he can make this game a lot more interesting than people thought.
One player to watch on defense:
A.E.M.

Marvin Austin (and the whole defensive line). They will be key against the spread offense, managing the line of scrimmage against the Cowboys is going to be key in order for Carolina to win this game. Make no mistake, this team is on the same level as an Appalachian State (and we remember last year), so Austin has to make sure that the line of scrimmage is the battle ground for this game and that the Heels win that war.
The Pulse

Linebacker Allen Nelson is going to be the key for this McNeese State defense that was very good last year, but has lots to prove in 2008. If he can do as well as he did last year, while improving the players around him as well, the Cowboys could easily expect another great year for this team.
The final score will be:
A.E.M.

McNeese State: 17

North Carolina: 35

The Pulse

McNeese State: 14

North Carolina 27
