STEERAGE

Our Steerage is in the very forepeak of the Imperator. It extends from  D deck down to J Deck and has accommodation for 1,772 passengers. Rooms in Steerage can be made to accommodate 2,4 and 8 passengers. Steerage quarters are located on decks G, H, and J.

Steerage passengers have their own promenade area on D Deck, a large Lounge on E Deck, and a hospital on F Deck. Adjacent the Lounge on E Deck is a large area for bathing and with tubs for washing clothes.

The Steerage Dining Room is located on F Deck under the Steerage Lounge. Passengers sit on communal benches before rows of long tables. While the surroundings may not be First or Second Class, we a proud nonetheless to say that the spread of food offered excels that served on other liners.

For Steerage guests, the Hamburg Amerika Line will provide generous lodging, food and medical for only $10.00. This fee also includes transportation from the railway to our lodging, and transportation to port on the day of sailing. And on the last night of your stay, we even through a bon voyage party for all our Steerage passengers as a special thanks for making the Hamburg Amerika Line the carrier of choice for emigrants.
