How I Started: Early on in 2003, I and my friend (and now fellow freestyler!) John were discussing the recent and extremely cool Nike Freestyle advertising campaign! I had seen the basketball freestyle advert on TV, and John was telling me about the Freestyle football Advert. Suddenly, John introduced the concept of Frisbee freestyle to me, by recounting to me how he had seen a Frisbee Nike Freestyle advert! The idea of playing Frisbee in a freestyle style seemed an obscure and almost incomprehendable idea to me, but nevertheless an intruiging one! I had to find out more! Later on, we visited nikefreestyle.com (sadly a website that does not exist currently) and found out a little more about the Freestyle campaign and in particular the Frisbee part of it. From then on, I became curious about the sport and 2003 became a journey of discovery for us, finding more and more out about the worldwide participation of the sport, and becoming more and more impressed with Freestyle! We then started playing in early 2003, but as we were not at all familiar with the skills and techniques involved in Freestyle, we first developed our throwing and catching skills. From that solid base (which took us several months until late 2003, when our proper freestyle started) we got some professional gear, an instructional DVD (Secrets Of Pro Disc Freestyle) and there has been no stopping our interest and development in the sport since!
