Domed Saucer

Of all know craft, the domed disc is perhaps the most instantly recognizable, and has been portrayed countless times in the media, but in reality the shiny silver disc so often represented, is but one of its many variants.

The domed disc shaped craft has a relatively low profile cupola, or dome on the top. And they are generally flat or convex on the bottom. Size can range from 10-15 feet in diameter, to several hundred or more, and they are generally one the most common type of UFOs reported.

Colour ranges from a brightly polished metallic silver colour to a dull aluminum in appearance. Flat bottomed craft are often darker underneath in a center circular area. The craft that have been witnessed on the ground, have been seen to have retractable landing gear that is let down before landing. Domed saucers are characteristically surrounded by an ionized atmosphere or plasma, that gives them nighttime illumination in red, orange, yellow, green, blue or white, and often gives them a mist-shrouded appearance. The craft make a hum, buzz or whine noise that can be noticeable to near observers. The sound rises in both pitch and intensity seconds before and during takeoff.

Sometimes domed craft make a slight swish of the air sound. At other times the observer is greeted with absolute silence.

Speeds have been confirmed by radar at up to 9,000 miles per hour.

Cigar/Dirigible

Cigar and dirigible type craft share many of the same characteristics. So it is difficult to separate the two types, however in general the cigar is the larger of the two.

Generally the colours have been reported by witnesses as highly polished silver, brown or metallic coloured. The size range is tremendous. Well upwards of a thousand feet in length for the giant cylindrical craft to hundreds of feet and possibly much larger for the dirigible.

Smaller craft have been seen to be discharged from the cigar and dirigible UFOs in large numbers. The big cigar objects are sometimes surrounded by great white clouds.

This phenomenon is less frequent with other configurations. Both cigar and dirigible craft carry plume-like wakes when accelerating rapidly or moving at high speeds, gray to straw-coloured in daylight, flame-coloured at night.

They can move slowly (100 mph) without generating the plume. An interesting feature of these two craft is that they are generally totally silent while in a stationary position or while maneuvering.

A scientist who personally witnessed a large dirigible object 1000 feet above Chesapeake Bay noted that when it accelerated it changed from a level path to an upward slanting path making an angle of about 5 degrees and disappeared within 4 to 5 seconds. He later calculated the speed of the craft at 8,900 mph.

It is believed that both the cigar and dirigible are capable of interstellar travel.

Flat-Top

Most saucer shaped craft come complete with a rounded or beveled type dome on top. The flat top is a very similar type of craft with the exception that the top is flat, resembling a boaters or straw type hat.

It is thought to be one of the rarer type of craft and was predominately witnessed in the 1940's through to the 1950's. Descriptions of the flat top craft range from a dull aluminum to a brightly polished silver or metallic. When looking up at this craft, the underneath may appear darker or often black.

Nighttime colours range from solidly lit yellow, amber, orange, red and blue or blue-violet, to a brilliant white. Because of halos which surround this craft, it is often difficult during the period of darkness to actually distinguish the shape of this craft.

Accompanying sounds at close quarters range from a buzz, whine or hum. The sound rises in both pitch and intensity seconds before and during takeoff from a hovering or landed position. The flat top, when observed seem at time to vibrate and jitter. It is not known if these are actual movements,or is in someway connected to an optical effect.

Conical-Hat

Because of the comparative rarity of this craft, a broad range of data is hard to come by, however a synopsis of the know information is as follows:

This Ufo resembles a Chinese peasant's large straw hat. And also has been described as a Sombrero

Insufficient estimates of the conical hat craft have been made to suggest a range of sizes, but one was reliably estimated to be in the order of 200 meters in diameter.

Colour has almost always been reported as metallic silver, both dull and polished. Conical hat UFOs' have been seen at times to vibrate heavily.

If the craft is moving slowly, the movement seems jerky or jittery. A fibrillation would probably be the best way to describe it.

Orb/Sphere

The initial impression one has is that spheres and orbs appear to be the same type of craft, given their similarities and the fact that both are mostly reported as being perfectly spherical.

But several variations do occur. Spheres have been witnessed to be flattened or elongated when see traveling at speed. Mostly however, they are a round shaped solid object either glowing or metallic.

Colours have been reported as white, silver, red, green and amber, and may resemble a ball of fire when seen. Daytime colours may also include black. Their size is reported to be in the 1 to 30 meter range.

When viewed from a distance they may appear as small as a pea held at arms length. Orbs are also sometimes known as obols which are smaller spheres with a 1 to 3 feet diameter. They appear as a round shaped illumination that does not seem to be a solid object, but more of a plasma in many different colours.

There are some who consider that orbs may be some form of probe, which may be preprogrammed or remotely controlled sensing devices. Spheres and orbs remain a relatively common type of craft, although in recent years have been seen to favour their appearance in clusters.
