NEWS AND EVENTS...

On Friday 18th May, Conservative and Labour MPs voted to exempt Parliament from Freedom of Information laws, creating one law for MPs and Lords and one law for everyone else.

The Bill - introduced by a Conservative MP - will now go to the House of Lords, where it can still be stopped from becoming law.

TO HELP STOP THIS... Write to a member of the House of Lords and ask them to vote against the Freedom of Information (Amendment) Bill. You can contact a Lord by using the Random Lord button at http://www.writetothem.com/lords

The society have elected a new committee.

Aaron Blowers - Chair
Aaron is a first year History student, and has been involved with the society from freshers week '06.

Alex Scott - Secretary
Alex has stepped down from being Chair in an effort to concentrate on her final year of her degree (...but she'll still be very much involved!)

Martin Jopp - Treasurer
Martin has been heavily involved with the liberal democrats for some years, and takes on the position of Treasurer for his final year.

As a new batch of eager, fresh-faced freshers descend upon UEA we will be making further appointments, (unless someone is desperate to get one now!)
