Hi everyone! We are the American Chemical Society Student Affiliates
also known as the Chemistry Club in UC Irvine. Our focus this year is green chemistry. In general meetings, we have guest speakers from any field of study and information about incoming club activities. We welcome students of any major to join the club. So, come check out our meetings and events. This is a great opportunity to meeting new people and enjoy the fun behind chemistry!
~Fall Quarter 09-- Week 5~Hello everyone! We are half-way through the fall quarter already. In order to celebrate our survival so far and to motivate us further, we will be having Professor Penner talk to us about his career and research. So please take a hour break from your midterm studies this Thursday, the 29th of October and attend this meeting at 6:30pm in Room # 2201 of the Natural Science II building. We will provide you with sandwiches and lots of knowledge. Also, this week is the deadline to turn in your Membership applications and fees. Please bring them both to the meeting, if you haven't turned them in already. It is also T-Shirt time! So make sure you have your sizes in mind. Don't miss this wonderful opportunity to meet a faculty member! We hope to see you there!
~Fall Quarter 09-- Week 3~
Hey everyone! We hope that our introductory meeting was fun for you all. There is another meeting on Thursday, October 15th. It will be in room 1201 of Natural Sciences II building at 6:30pm. During this meeting, the officers will do demos that they perform for the University Studies class. You will have a chance to sign up, in case you would like to help us out. Snacks will also be provided. So come to the meeting for a more hands-on chemistry experience and don't forget to bring you completed membership application form and fees ($17 per quarter and $45 for the year)

~Fall Quarter 09-- Week 1~
Hey everyone! Chemistry Club is really excited for Week One, and you should be too, because we will be holding our first meeting on Thursday, October 1st. We will meet in room 1201 of the Natural Sciences 2 building at 6:30pm. We will have pizza and drinks for all those who show up. During the meeting, our officers will tell you about the events we look forward to this year. Our club supervisor, Professor Tobias will also be coming in to speak with you all. So bring friends and be ready to make new ones who share your passion for Chemistry!!
Hey guys! Hope you guys had a great summer. Welcome Week is quickly approaching and we had our booth set up at Aldrich Park on Monday 9/21 from 11-2pm for Anteater Involvement Fair. All students, members, and anyone who is interested in joining Chemistry Club and wanted to know more about this club should definitely stop by our booth. We are booth #137, which is close to the Engineering/ICS area.
We are also planning another event in early October. It is the National Chemistry Week at Santa Ana Zoo on Sunday 10/11 from 9 am to 3pm. Using the experiments with the element Iodine, we are going to do outreach to increase the kids' interest in chemistry. Ride will be provided. Email the club president if interested. We are going to talk about the detail on this event in our first general meeting. We will update later on this website the location and date of our first general meeting. ** Spring Quarter 09- Week 7**
Hey guys! We are going to have a meeting this Tuesday (5/12) instead of Thursday at 6pm in NSII Room 1201. We are going to finish the election for next years' officers. Here are the available positions: vice president (2 spots), outreach (2 spots), historian (1 spot), and public relations (2 spots). Also, we will talk about the end of the year banquet. Have you ever wonder how chemistry relates to cooking? Dr. Taagepera will be doing food demonstration in this meeting to show you how it works. So come check out!

** Spring Quarter 09- Week 3 & 4 **
Hey guys! We are having general meeting this week on Thursday 4/16 at 6pm in Natural Sciences II Room 1201. We will talk about wayzgoose and have our election for next year's officers. If you are interested in becoming one of the officers in Chem Club, then come to this week's meeting and prepare to give a short 1-2 min talk on why you are a good candidate for that position. Available positions are secretary, treasurer, event coordinator, and public relations.
Wayzgoose is this Saturday 4/18 from 10-3pm! We are selling skewers and soda, so come support Chem Club and come help out at our booth if you can. Our booth is close to Langson Library in Aldrich Park. Email ucichemclub@gmail.com if you have any questions about the event.
** Spring Quarter 09- Week 1 & 2**
Hi everyone! Hope you guys all have a great spring break. Spring quarter just started, and that means we are going to have our first general meeting this week (week 1) this Thursday on April 2nd at 6:00pm in Natural Sciences II Room 1201. We are going to talk about our upcoming fundraising events like Wayzgoose and Discover UCI Day. We will also talk about guest speakers for the quarter and a little bit about election for Chem Club officer position for next year. So come check out our meeting this week if you haven't yet! All majors are welcomed!!
For week 2, we are going to have the "Discover UCI" fundraising event at Anteater Plaza on Thursday April 9th from 12-1pm. We have booth #44, so members and anyone interested in helping us out can come to booth #44, which is across from the Administration officer or Aldrich Hall on campus. We are selling donuts and cupcakes at the booth. So members, if you don't have time to come help out at the booth, come buy some baked foods from us and come support Chem Club!

Hey guys! There will be no meeting this Thursday (week 9), but we are still having our social at San Clemente this Sunday. The CPK fundraiser on Friday (3/6) is postponed to next quarter. Also, no meeting on week 10. We want you to spend more time studying. Good luck on your finals!
** Winter Quarter 09- Week 9**
Hey guys! We will have the CPK Fundraiser on Friday 3/6 at 6pm. We will meet outside of CPK (California Pizza Kitchen) on Michelson in Irvine at 6pm sharp. Send us an email to ucichempr@gmail.com if you are planning on attending this fundraising event and if you have questions about it.
Also, we will have a special BBQ social event with members from UCSD Chemistry Club on Sunday 3/8 at San Clemente at around 1pm. Rides will be provided if needed. This is a great opportunity to interact with Chem Club from another UC and get to know more people whom might have same interests as you do. All members and everyone interested in Chem Club are welcomed!

Hey everyone! Instead of having our usual general meeting on Thursday at 6pm this week, we are going to have nuclear reactor tour this Thursday 2/19 at 6pm.
We will be meeting outside of Rowland Hall at 6pm. Members who are interested in going can inform our president, Charlie, and send him an email to his email address: ucichempresident@gmail.com. (also mention in the email to say how people are going if you are bringing friends along). Members should inform the president the latest by Thursday morning. I strongly encourage all members to check out this tour cause it is really cool! Hope to see you there!

Hey everyone! welcome back! We are going to have more excited and interesting activities for all the members this quarter. Next week (week 2), we are going to have our first general meeting of this quarter on Thursday 1/15 at 6:30pm @ Natural Sciences II Room 1201. There will be a brief introduction about activities and officers of the club. Then we are going to have couple of the officers talk about their research and answer questions about getting involved into research on campus. Also, we will be accepting club application for winter quarter. Students who are interested to join this club can print out an application and turn it in with the fee. Application is posted on this website. We look forward to see you in the meeting!!
On week 4, we are going to have our 2nd general meeting on Thursday at 6:30pm @ Natural Sciences II Room 1201. Professor Weiss is going to come and give a talk about his research. Everyone who is interested in Chemistry are strongly recommended to come to this meeting!

** Fall Quarter 08- Week 5 & 6**
Hey guys! Thank you for those who came to check out chem club in the second meeting on week 3. This week's meeting is going to be short. The 3rd general meeting this week will be held on Thursday 10/30 at 5:30pm at Natural Sciences II 1201. We will be taking pictures for the In Chemistry magazine. Due to midterms, we will end the meeting earlier this week at 6pm. We want you guys to study hard and ace all your midterms! Also, don't forget to wear chem club t-shirts for the picture if you have one! We are still accepting application forms, so bring them to meeting this week or next week. See you guys at the meeting!
**Fall Quarter 08- Week 3 & 4**
Hey everyone! Thank you for the new and returning members for attending our first general meeting in week 1. In our last meeting, we introduced all the officers of the club, presented a powerpoint of the activities we did last year, and had a fun ice-breaker with the members.
We are having our second meeting on Thursday, October 16th in Natural Sciences II, Room 1201 at 6pm. In this meeting, we will talk about our upcoming San Onofore Nuclear Power Plant trip and have more ice breakers with members. There will be free cookies and drinks for everyone at the meeting! So, come check out this Chem Club meeting and meet new people in your major! You can also pick up or turn in membership applications during the meeting. We are looking forward to see you guys at the meeting!
**Fall Quarter 08- Welcome Week & Week 1**
Welcome back! Hope you guys have a great summer. Welcome week is coming soon and we have new events for both new and return members. For welcome week, we're going to have booth set up at the Anteater Club Fair on Monday 9/22. Anyone who is interested are strongly recommend to attend this Club Fair at Aldrich Park. Students of any majors are welcome to check out our booth. Booth location and time will be announced soon.
Our first general meeting of Fall Quarter will be this Thursday October 2nd at 6 pm @ Natural Sciences II Room 1201 (the building across from Rowland Hall)! We'll be introducing club officers, talking about club events for this year, and answering questions about the club. There will be free food and we welcome students of any major to come join us in our first meeting of the year!
**Spring Quarter 08- Week 9**
Hey guys! Hope everyone had a good 3 day weekend! For this week, there will be no general meeting on Thursday. Instead, we will have our end of the year BBQ party.
The BBQ party is going to be on Sunday 6/1 from 1-4pm at the Vista del Campo pool. There will be free food and this will be our last meeting of the year. So you guys should definitely come and have fun with all the members and officers before finals! If you are planning on attending, please RSVP to our public relation- Kaelyn to ucichempr@gmail.com by Thursday May 29th so we have an idea how much food to buy.
Also, Anteater Award will be this Wednesday 5/28 at 6:30pm in Crystal Cove Auditorium in Student Center. Wear the club shirt and come support Chem Club! Email secretary- Suki (skchan@uci.edu) for questions about tickets and the event.
Dr. Rowland's lecture will be next Tuesday 6/3 at 6:30pm in HSLH 100A. It is going to be a lecture on "Greenhouse Gases and Climate Change". It's a great opportunity to learn about global warming. There will be free food too, so come early!
**Spring Quarter 08- Week 7**
Hey everyone! Hope everyone did fine on midterms! The meeting this week will be on Thursday 5/15 at 6:30pm in NSII 1201. This week we'll have elections for next year's board positions. Members who are interested to run for a position need to prepare a short speech about why you are the best candidate for this position. This is going to be one of the last general meeting this school year, so everyone should come and put down votes for the candidates!
Also, we are going to have many events coming up in week 9 and 10.
-Anteater Award is on Wednesday of week 9 5/28 in Crystal Cove Auditorium in Student Center. Come support chem club and enjoy performance from other clubs on campus. There will be free food too! So, wear your chem club shirt and come support! If you're interested in coming, please email the secretary- Suki (skchan@uci.edu) and she will inform you how to get the ticket for Anteater Award.
-Chem Club Banquet will be on Sunday 6/1 from 1-3pm in the BBQ area near the VDC Community Center. Members should come and join all the officers. This will be our last gathering/social for this year, so don't miss out! Food will be provided and it's a great opportunity to meet other members in the club. Take a break from studying and come have some fun!
-Dr. Rowland from School of Physical Sciences will give a lecture on "Greenhouse Gases and Climate Change" on Tuesday 6/3 at 6:30pm in lecture hall in HSLH. Reception will be in NSII 1201 and guests can park at the parking structure behind buildings Natural Sciences I and II. You'll have a chance to learn more about global warming.
**Spring Quarter 08- Week 3**
Time passes by so fast! It is already week 3 of spring quarter, which means it is time for Chem Club events again!
This week, we won't be having a meeting on Thursday. Instead, we are going on a field trip to Dow Chemical Company in Torrence. There are around 10 more spots available for this field trip. If you are interested in going, please contact our public relations- Kaelyn by her email ucichempr@gmail.com to RSVP a spot. The field trip is this Thursday 4/17 and we will meet outside of Natural Sciences II at 9 am and leaving at 9:15 at the latest. Food will be provided and we will be back to campus at around 2 pm. Contact Kaelyn if you will be able to drive for this field trip.
Also, this Saturday 4/19 is the annual tradition event "Wayzgoose"! We will be setting up a booth and selling chocolate cover strawberries, italian sodas, and club t-shirts. It is in Aldrich Park from around 10-5pm. We need you guys to come and help us out! You need to help out at our booth at least for a little bit if you want to go to our end of the year BBQ party.
Don't forget to wear your club shirt to both the field trip and Wayzgoose! See you guys at the events this week!

Our first meeting of spring quarter will be on Thursday, April 3rd at 6:30 pm @ Natural Sciences II 1201.
We are going to play boards games and have root beer floats! It would be a really fun meeting and you will get to meet other members!
In this quarter, we will have more excited events offering to our members, such as wayzgoose, chem demonstrations, end of the year banquet, and a lot more!!
Students of all majors are welcome! So come to our meeting and learn more about Chemistry Club activities!!
