Halo 3 Review

Yes thats right, Halo 3. This review will be short and to the point...... it's awsome...... ok so you want more explanation.... ok fine.

The singleplayer is fun and addictive, and tough. Lets just say legendary is tough but hard.

The multiplayer is the best part though, theres the matchmaking your used to in halo 2 and theres the custom games. But Bungie added in one thing that made it all special, Forge. Forge is what you edit the existing maps in. You can pretty much change where everything is, the turrets, the flags, the vehicles, the weapons, the spawn points, the teleporters, everything. Bungie also added in something that lets Machinimists and people who want to see how they did in that last game alike have fun. They added a theater mode which has the last 30 or so games you played in. You can slow down the footage, speed it up, move the camera, etc when in theater mode. While you can't do this while a game is in play you can watch it afterwards. Bungie added a little incintive to play the singleplayer and the multiplayer parts of the game; the armor permutations. Bungie made alot of permutations for your customizing needs. You no longer have to look like everyone else (however the Hayabusa armor says different.........) and you can choose your chest plate, helmet, and both sholders individually.

Now I don't think I finished this review well and i'll fix it later, I give halo 3 a 10 out of 10........ how predictable.

oh and happy new year!

UPDATE: 4-20-08 By: Tygron: Ok so now it's time to make a better review that says more than "this is good" "this sucks." Now I realize that maybe no one will read this..... but I don't care.\

I'll start with the single player. The singleplayer is great, but it could use a little work to make it replayable. I play it from time to time but not enough to call it enjoyment. Shure it's fun for the first time but after that it gets old quick. The only further enjoyment I got out of it was playing coop and beating legendary. Now I need the other achievments for singleplayer and then I may never play it again. Now getting away from my rant..... the voice acting is great.... now I heared that theres suppose to be something like 2000 audio files going into the voice..... I have only heared about..... 70 different ones.... and they all stay the same. Nothing is different. No I haven't played through with IWHBYD on but I never planned to anyway. The cutscenes are good too, they are beutifull in terms of the graphics..... but the animations could use some work...... there were more convincing movements in halo one...... but thank God the faces don't look liek the ones from half life 2.... yes I like half life 2.... but the face animations need alot of work... back to halo, the story finishes the fight.... but it leaves you wanting more, much more and I was dissapointed when it was over..... there was no real satisfiying end to it and thats what made me sad.

Multiplayer

The multiplayer is probably the best part of the game. There is downloadable content in forms of maps, of those only one (that I have played..... I don't have the legendary map pack yet) is good and thats foundry and thats because it is basically anything you want it to be. Matchmaking is great and has good playlists like double exp weekend.... where there have been gametypes like grifball and swat. Theres the mlg playlist, DLC for the people with the newest map pack, random tournament playlists that happen from time to time, social and, ranked. Personally I liked lonewolves but now I kind of like the mlg playlist. There are your occasional hackers and idiots..... and little kids that think they know everything when playing grifball..... "THEY'RE GOING FOR THE T313P0RT0RZ STOP THEM!!!! OMFGWTFLOLSOIBBQ!!!" You can't get to the teleporters.... and even if you did you just spawn in the middle in the air..... big friggan deal! But thats why theres a mute button and player review options.

Weapons

The weapons in this game, as the last two, are balanced well. The only thing that got annoying was the melee system..... it was pretty good back at the start... but since they updated it it sucked then got gradually better as I got used to it again.

Update 5-18-08 By Tygron: sorry it was a few weeks not the next day, I got caught up in something. Anyway back to the weapon review, i'll start with the assault rifle. The assault rifle (AR for short) is a great starting weapon.... thank God because I hated the smg's of halo 2... the AR has a nice range but actually stops working well outside of it's range, something I could make it do very well in HCE. The new AR is just like the last one except for it has a clip of 32 and I don't remember the maximum bullet count you can hold.... but in halo 1 it was 600..... which is alot. It has alot of the features the old one had such as the screen and compass but thats all that they share.... or have. The next weapon i'll talk about is the smg..... what once was a great killing machine is still a great killing machine... but mostly only if you dualwield. Sadly I have not noticed people using it that much anymore, Personally I kind of dreaded the thing back in halo 2.... I was always glad to see "starting weapon:Battle Rifle" or anything that wasn't the smg. Now for halo 3 it hasn't changed much if at all..... it still had 60 rounds..... I belive thats the ammount per clip but I don't remember..... cause I don't use it. Next up will be the battle rifle, (or BR for short) now this gun is probably the only thing thats changed a whole lot. The barrel is longer, the sight is different (still goes to X2 though) and there are a few tweeks to the deadlyness. Now I like this gun, but it only seems to be good when you get strait headshots.... it kills people a little faster than the AR or atleast I think (haven't done major testing just what I know from matchmaking) but for anything but the head you need a different gun. I remember halo2 where the br was a gift of God (besides noob combo for all the noobs) and it actually did well for shooting just about anywhere on the body. Now for some reason it took me a while to get used to the look of the new BR... why i duno but something just bugged me.

Now the carbine, good weapon but the BR is better. I liked it in halo2 where it actually was a good weapon.... but now it's more of a second thought..... bungie didn't even put it into the weapons list when you make gametypes or player starting weapons.... it's just not there. The needler.... oh my God this thing has changed.... and for good. The needler is..... how do I put this... uh....... oh yea....... BOOM! Empty about a little less than half the clip into someone and boom they explode. While not dual wieldable anymore it possesses more power than any of the previous incarnations have in the past. The rocket launcher, great but they took so many things out... ok just one thing the lock on..... but theres one thing other people take out of it..... the common sence. First off if you have the rocket launcher (called various things ie: boom tube, noob tube, RL, holy @#$% (jk), rocks etc.) DON'T RUN OUT FROM A CORNER AND FIRE AT POINT BLANK!!!!!!!!!!!  !!! It's just stupid..... never fire at point blank unless your chields are down and you know your going to die and you want to take this idiot in your face with you..... ok? Bungie basicly brought back the halo 1 RL and stuck it in halo 3.... not much explenation here.... but the missle pod explains the broken guidence system.

The sniper rifle, oh my God.... yes.... just yes. This thing has been improving since the origional and it's only gotten better. Now yes you need skills with this to actually land a kill...... it's not broken.... YOUR BROKEN! I can not stress this enough..... NOT BROKEN! now I can't say much about it except for the fact that if any skilled player has it and he sees you.... your dead... end of story. The plasma rifle..... I haven't use this much but for the few times I have it seemed to be pretty good..... but sadly it's not one of those weapons you can rely on..... this is a result of having too many weapons...... Bungie what the heck happened to being able to count the weapons on our fingers and not out toes too!? The plasma pistol..... well.... I can actually say it's pretty good this time around..... why? because it can dissable vehicles if charged up. Now while I have no use of this feature (uh I rarely play any vehicle maps) it is nice to have. The only downside is that the charge shot no longer homes..... it's a good thing but a bad thing too because people will miss this big part of what used to be the plasma pistol. The beam rifle, basicly a covenant version of the human sniper..... but you never have to reload or over heat if you shoot slow enough.

The brute shot, nice but kind of pathetic. Seriously.... what is this used for? It's a firework launcher with a disc to hold it with to spin it around so you can hit with the blade.... seriously I think it's better used as a wiered sword thing than a gun. The magnum one of the better things they brought back.... the halo one pistol.... well atleast it looks similar. It's still dualwieldable but the only problem is it shoots to slow... I loved being able to go all mad cowboy shooting in the air with it.... it was just fun. The mauler...... can I say shotpistol? Basicly it's a shotgun..... in pistol form..... if you have 2 (dual wielded) you have a shotgun.... if you have one.... you have a one way ticket to an easy beatdown..... but i'm not going to explain how you do it.... either you know or you don't. The spiker, nice guns but they are basicly a faster shooting smg..... thats about it. The spartan laser (splazer) is actually pretty nice but it's more of a pain than a good thing.... for the people looking to get all achivements this thing is going to be you best buddy for several months..... why? well the 2 for one achievment of course..... which is one spartan laser shot.... one double kill..... only in ranked free for all.... commonly known as lonewolves. The sword........ I love the sword. It's much better than halo2 and it's nice. I love the two different attacks and it seems more thought out that halo2. The only think I don't like is the energy you have.... it's no longer unlimited. The hammer..... "hammer time" just like the sword but only one attack is a one hit kill..... it also has a shorter lunge range but makes up for that with the big blast that blows everything away. I belive I got all the weapons..... put a message on the forums if I did.

Vehicles

I love the vehicles... the physics are amazing.

I'll start this off with the warthog/gauss hog, both are great but the gauss still is better than the chaingun version.

Come back soon for the rest of the vehicle review, equipment, forge, and all the other good stuff crammed into the game.

Reviews

Well I finnaly got a review section... sorry I didn't do it sooner...... I just got broadband.

HALO PC/CE

Halo is a fun game, I loved it the first time I played it. Yes it is just another shooter... so what... it's fun and addictive.

Now the normal PC version doesn't offer much but it had alot of players (not sure how many will quit to play H2V) and it did get verry chaotic at times.

Since people want more maps and things Gearbox released the FREE Custom Edition version that allowed cutom matarial.

CE had it's ups and downs, many players still played the PC version... sadly. The ups are that there are many good maps out for CE including but not limited to: Zanzibar (the latest version) Headlong (the better one is still in development by Kenny at www.halomaps.org) Yoyorast Island (V2 is in development) hugeass (yes it's an odd name but it's HUGE! although it's not that greats it has the most downloads of all maps) all CMT maps and many more.

CE has it's good share of "modders" involved including CMT, Bacon, Kirby, and a few others.

Kirby made a gravity gun, that was origionaly a beta to be distributed to his friends... till Hogdriver got a hold of it and wanted the gun (sorry hog but i'm just stating facts.... no offence) Kirby also made an ingame music player and a jackal shield "weapon" to act as an extra shield... like the jackals use. One of his most popular (i think) "mods" is the Shield Grenade. The Shield Grenade is modeled after the one used in the Halo 3 Comertial and functions verry simalarly.

Bacon was making the ASIS which was a very nice ship. sorry if I left anything out I kinda forget.... oh yeh he was making Entropy... it is still in the works from what I know.

Halo Guru, he's very skilled at the game, mostly in mapmaking and scripting (i think.... correct me if i'm wrong) he made a Easy Halo Scripter for use in maps.

CMT is the Custom Maping Team and man is their maps great! They made a complete remake of the Halo 1 campain and are making a version 2 comming out soon. Their custom maps are awsom and feature custom mae Halo 3 weapons including the Spatan Laser. Just go check them out... do a google search on CMT halo or something like that.

All in all I give halo PC/CE a 9.9/10 for the customability and the great online play, the story is ok but it's replay value is minimal.... to me.

5-10-07

H2V got delayed till the 22nd or 23rd.... no one knows... feel free to email Bungie with all insults and cusswords.

7-7-/07

It's Bungies favorite day... also it's the day of my H2V review.

Ok this will be a small review till I get to update it. The single player is pretty fun, but I can't get much out of it cause my graphics card sucks.

The multiplayer is fun and chalenging.... very chaotic at times.

And this is the end of my sucky review... it will be updated later.
