Tyddyn Du Campsite

The Mawddach Estuary

John Ruskin once said that the only journey in the world that had views to compare with the one from Dolgellau
to Barmouth, was the journey from Barmouth to Dolgellau.

Wordsworth described the estuary as "sublime". Tyddyn Du campsite is sittuated exactly halfway between Barmouth
and Dolgellau within the Snowdonia National Park ... packed with spectacular mountain scenery and beautiful green
valleys.

As can be seen from the photograph below the site extends down to the Mawddach estuary which is a site of special scientific interest [SSSI].

Tyddyn Du campsite is an excellent location for viewing all kinds of wildlife and wildfowl in particular. Tyddyn Du is located in the middle of ancient oak woodland, with truly spectacular views of Cadair Idris ... one of the highest mountains in wales.

Tyddyn Du campsite is the most peaceful and tranquil place to stay in Mid Wales and is an ideal base for journeys throughout Snowdonia. The site was started in 1944, and is still managed by the same family. Though now into it's third generation.
