Team Mox Monkeys
Team Mox Monkeys was originally founded in Victoria, TX in 1999 by Sean Ellis. The team consisted of Allan Dodd, Rob Dodd, Anthony Chacon, Rhyan Staten, Bart Brown, Christopher Loghan, Brandon Borowicz, & founder Sean Ellis. The original members all played at Brodie’s Comics & Cards in Victoria, TX for about five years. The team traveled to numerous tournaments throughout the state posting great performances all around. In 2003 founding member Sean Ellis won a Mox Sapphire at Heroes & Fantasies in San Marcos, TX. Later that year the team traveled to Pro Tour New Orleans where each member placed high in numerous tournaments & formats. In 2004 Brodie’s Comics and Cards closed its doors to the dismay of the initial team. A few team members moved off to attend college while others found it more difficult to find time to play. In late 2004 six of the founding members stepped away from the game and sold off their collections leaving only two of the original members left (Brandon Borowicz, Anthony Chacon). In May of 2005 it was decided that the team should be rebuilt and Brandon Borowicz decided to take this upon himself by creating a website and both team members began searching for new players to bring into the team. Between the months of July 2005 and January 2006 four new members (Martin Alcala, CHIEF, Jesse Reyna, & Nero Lopez) were brought into the team to bring the team up to six members. In May Anthony Chacon stepped away from the game which brought the team to its current 5 members. In 2007 two new members were brought into the team (Stephen & Nohemie) while Jesse stepped away to go work for Haliburton. In 2008 David Cook became the newest member of the team. The current active team has seven members with fifteen members collectivley throughout the years. This year the team will be traveling to numerous tournaments and will continue an excellence in playing Magic in the state of Texas & throughout the nation. With eight years of history behind the team it is certain that it will live on and the members will continue to play Magic at the highest levels of competition. Brandon Borowicz: Brandon is the last remaining member of the initial Team Mox Monkeys, which was founded in Victoria, Texas. He played an integral part in recruiting the new team members in 2005 and has also helped in bringing competitive Magic back to south Texas. Brandon’s superlatives in Magic have come when playing Type 1.5 Legacy and at times Extended and Type 2. Currently Brandon is attending Texas A&M University Kingsville studying in mechanical engineering.

Nereo Lopez:
Nereo was the first member of the Team found outside of the Victoria area. Nereo also played a large role in recruiting the new team members while at the same time bringing competitive Magic to south Texas. Nereo has proven to be a solid team member with his wealth of knowledge on card interactions and with his great understanding of the rules of Magic. Nereo will often times help other team members create decks and when fine tuning a deck for tournament play. Nereo has preformed well in all aspects of Magic ranging from Type 2 to Type 1.5 Legacy, while he is one of the best limited players on the team if not in the state of Texas. Currently Nereo is attending Texas A&M University Kingsville studying in chemistry.

Martin Alcala:
Martin is one of the strongest members on the team and most often many team members approach him on his opinions on card choices when building decks. Martin’s knowledge of cards along with his nearly unlimited resources of cards has proven to be a wining combination both for him and the team as a whole. Martin is the team’s most capable player as he is strong in all formats including Type 1 Vintage. Currently Martin is attending Texas A&M University Kingsville studying for his PHD in Environmental Engineering.

Ricardo "CHIEF" Gonzalez:
CHIEF became a team member in early 2006 and has been a great asset to the team ever since his arrival. CHIEF has been able to go from just one of the members of the team to one of the most respected not only on the team but also in the area due to his play skill and preparation for tournaments. The team has benefited from CHIEF’s willingness to playtest at any time in any format. CHIEF’s strongest areas of play have been in the Type 1.5 legacy and Type 2 formats. To say the least CHIEF is the player who has come the furthest on the team in just one year and hopefully he will continue his progression into all the formats.

Stephen Peterson:
Stephen has become one of the greatest additions to the team because of his amazing ability to play up in tournaments when the team needs him most. He has shown success in all formats with major strides coming in the Type 2 & Limited formats. Known to most simply as T.C. (Totally Cool) he currently resides in Corpus Christi, Texas & provides the team with an entirely new element & a new approach to playing which the team has not had in the past. He has certainly found himself in the team & has shown the capability to not only be one of the best on the current team but perhaps the best the team has ever had.

Nohemi Castillo
Nohemi is currently the only woman we have on the team & has shown her most success in the limited formats. She has becomes the teams quinisential tournament organizer & is currently working towards her judge status & rules advisor status. She has a strong knowledge of the game & has even displayed the capability to play in Type 1 (Vintage) tournaments at a high level. She has gone to Gen Con the past two years & is one of the teams most dedicated members in that she is always willing to head out to a tournament. Nohemi's addition to the team is most important for the team to continue to expand into the realms of tournament orginization & becoming a stronger sanctioning body.

David Cook:
David Cook for a time was one of the team's greatest adversaries but in 2008 he became one of the team's greatest assets. David has shown prolific play skill in all formats while self proclaiming Legacy as his favorite. He is one of the strongest players on the team & he represents the quintessential player that the team looks for when bringing in new members. David's greatest contributions will be as a player, testing partner, & deck developer. David's willingness to travel to tournaments throughout the country exhibits the teams further commitment to becoming a successful entity in all realms; local, state, national, & global. David currently resides in Corpus Christi, Texas & is a buisiness major.
