In 1973, the world was graced with her presence . She's lived in Phoenix, Arizona since she was four years old. She's the oldest of two sisters and three brothers. After she graduated high school, she attended Brigham Young University for English literature. And she wrote the best book all of us have ever read. That's right, people, she's Stephenie Meyer, Literary Goddess of the Century.
Twilight came to Stephenie in a dream in June 2003, in which a god-like vampire and normal human girl were talking in a forest. After she woke up from what she thought was a very magical dream, she put aside all her morning routines to sit and write down the scene still fresh in her mind, and this was how Twilight was born. She continued to write about these two characters until she'd finished an entire book, and with the encouragement of her sister, she decided to try and have it published. She was signed on to a three book contract with Little, Brown Co.
After Twilight was published, the first book she'd ever written, Stephenie proceeded to recieve mountains of awards and praise. Twilight became a New York Times Bestselling book, and has won such titles as 2006 Best Books for Young Adults Top Ten and 2006 Top Ten Quick Picks for Reluctant Young Adult Readers, and has been translated into multiple languages. Twilight immediately acquired a rising fanbase that still continues to grow and expand today.
The much awaited-for sequel to Twilight, New Moon, was released in August of 2006, which caused a joyous uproar in the world of literature. New Moon became #1 on the New York Times Bestseller list, once again, and remained that way for over ten weeks. She has won numerous awards for New Moon as well, including a Koofies Award for Best Sequel and Best Leading Male Character, to name a few.
Despite Stephenie's recent new occupation, she is still a stay-at-home mom, except when traveling on tour. She lives with her husband Poncho and her three sons, Seth, Gabe and Eli in Pheonix, where she edits during the day and writes at night. She is currently in the process of editting Eclipse, the third book in the Twilight series, which is to be released on August 7th, 2007. She keeps busy in her spare time working on the 4th book in the series, Breaking Dawn, as well as Midnight Sun, Twilight in Edward's POV, and editing her Sci-Fi novel, the Host.
From house-wife to world-renowned author, Stephenie has climbed the ladder to greatness. As her career continues to soar, we all hope to see many more books published by her, which thousands all await with little patience. Keep it up, Stephenie!
