The Community Work Day Was a Great Success!
With the help of many community members, inmates from the county Jail, and Mike Sanchez and his crew from Gatesville "ALL" the damage was repaired.
Of course there are the scars from breaks and scratches left behind but all the monuments were stood back up and re attached to bases, even the broken ones were "glued" back together.
This effort was completed less than two weeks from the time the damage was done.
Thanks again.
Devastation on hallowed ground!

What was supposed to be a fun filled day with the 2nd Annual Turnersville Buffalo Stampede, a fund raiser for the Turnersville community center, was marred by the unexpected damage, during the night, in our towns most hallowed place, the community cemetery.
Our community awoke this morning to the discovery of one of the worst example of cemetery vandalism in Coryell county history.
Almost 80 tombstones, some of which were over 100 years old, were broken, pushed over and otherwise desecrated during the night.
The residents were outraged and some were literally brought to tears as they surveyed the devastation.
The Coryell county Sheriff's department is investigating the incident but have no leads as of yet.
A deputy took several photographs to document the crime and also collected several beer cans to see if fingerprints can be recovered.
Channel 25 and channel 6, along with the Gatesville Messenger sent crews to cover the damage.
