This tutorial is written using PSP X2. It assumes that you have a good working knowledge of PSP.
Supplies needed:
Scrap kit of choice - I used a FREE scrap kit that I made called “Just Beachy.” You can get the full kit at my blog here: http://j0eswife.blogspot.com/. The pieces used are included with my supplies below.
Scraps needed: circle frame, paper or two, glitter doodle, accents
Tubes of choice – You can use one tube or three tubes, just be sure the tubes are from the same artist. I am using art that is ©Michael Landefeld, www.mlteedesigns.com. I have purchased a license to use this work. If you do not have a license, please do not use this work. If you would like more info on purchasing a license, visit www.creativeimagelicensing.com
Font of choice – I am using “Coquette Regular,” but any font will do.
Optional – Plug in for animation - dsb flux:Bright Noise, which you can find more info on here: http://www.photoshop-filters.com/html/dsb_flux.htm
- Animation Shop for animation

First, open a new canvas 600 x 250. Then, flood fill with a light color of choice, or copy and paste a paper onto your canvas. I used “Sandy Paper.”
Open your circle frame. I am using Bracelet Circle Frame, resized 35%. (Choose Image>Resize. Under “Advanced settings,” be sure “Lock aspect ratio” is checked and “Resize all layers” is UNchecked.)
Adjust>Sharpness>Sharpen
Duplicate the frame. Move this duplicated layer over to the far right. You can keep it vertically centered, or you can arrange it how you like. To be sure it is aligned with your center frame, simply check to be sure they have the same “Y Position” (shown at the top when using your pick tool).
Duplicate your new frame. Image>Mirror. Merge your 3 frame layers together. Save.
Open a paper of choice. I am using “Stripes 3.” Copy and paste it onto your canvas, below your frame layer.
Activate your frame layer. Using your Magic Wand (Mode: Add, Tolerance and Feather: 0), click inside each of your three circle frames.
Selections>Modify>Expand by 4 pixels. Selections>Invert. Click on your paper layer and hit the delete key. Selections>None. Save.
Open your accent of choice. I am using the “Blue Glitter Heart” from the kit, resized 18%, then sharpened. Copy and paste onto your canvas as your top layer. I put mine where two frames overlapped, then duplicate accent. Then on your duplicated layer, Image>Mirror. Save.
Next, open your doodle of choice. I am using “Blue Glitter Doodle 1,” resized 50%. Copy and paste it onto your canvas, just above your background layer.
Free rotate 90 degrees to the left (Image>Free Rotate, be sure “All Layers” is UNchecked.) Arrange on your canvas, sharpen, then duplicate. On your duplicated layer, Image>Mirror, Image>Flip. Save.
If you want to animate, then merge these doodle layers together and duplicate twice (for a total of 3 doodle layers). Rename these layers 1, 2, and 3 (doesn’t matter which is which).
Now to add your tubes. Copy and paste your first tube. It should be below your frame layer, but above your paper layer. Arrange and resize how you like it, sharpen if needed.
Activate your frame layer. Using your Magic Wand (Mode: Add, Tolerance and Feather: 0), click inside the frame with your tube.
Selections>Modify>Expand by 4 pixels. Selections>Invert. Click on your tube layer and hit the delete key. Selections>None. Save.
Repeat for each frame. I lowered the opacity of my tube layers to 75%, which is optional. Save.
Now, before you add your copyright info and other text, resize the tag to its final size (or keep it the size it is). First, crop off any excess around the edges. Then, choose Image>Resize. Under “Advanced settings,” be sure “Lock aspect ratio” and “Resize all layers” are both CHECKED. Save again.
Now add your copyright info, license number (if applicable), and tagger’s mark (if you use one). Save
Finally, add your name. I am using font “Coquette Regular” at a size of 72, stroke width 2, using #3b7c96 for my stroke (foreground) color and #71b2d0 for my fill (background) color. Convert to raster layer. Go to Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow. I am using settings 3, 3, 80, 5, color black. Save.
If you are not going to animate – you are done with the tag part of your forum set!
If you are animating, open Animation Shop and return to PSP.
Now, make your doodle layer 1 active. Go to dsb flux>Bright Noise. Use settings: Intensity 50, Direction “Mix”.
Now, go to Edit>Copy Special>Copy Merged. Then, in Animation Shop, Edit>Paste>As New Animation. (Or just click CTRL+V)
Go back to PSP and make your doodle layer 2 active. Go to dsb flux>Bright Noise. Keep the same settings, just click on the word mix twice.
Now, go to Edit>Copy Special>Copy Merged. Then, in Animation Shop, Edit>Paste>After Current Frame. (Or click Shift+CTRL+L)
Go back to PSP and make your doodle layer 3 active. Go to dsb flux>Bright Noise. Keep the same settings, just click on the word mix twice.
Now, go to Edit>Copy Special>Copy Merged. Then, in Animation Shop, Edit>Paste>After Current Frame. (Or click Shift+CTRL+L)
Save as a GIF and you’re done with your tag!
Now for the avatar:
Open a new canvas 150x150.
Then, flood fill with a light color of choice, or copy and paste a paper onto your canvas. I used “Sandy Paper.” (Do whatever you did for your tag.)
Open your frame and copy and paste it onto your canvas. I am using Bracelet Circle Frame, resized 25%. (Choose Image>Resize. Under “Advanced settings,” be sure “Lock aspect ratio” is checked and “Resize all layers” is UNchecked.) Sharpen, then save your progress.
Type your name using the same font and colors as for your tag. Free rotate it 45% left. Use the same drop shadow as on your tag.
Save and you are done!
You could also add an accent or place your tube in the frame. Just be sure that if you use a tube in your avatar, the license / copyright info must be on the avatar also.
