Cheer Princess

Supplies needed:

This tutorial was written using PSP X2 (should work on other versions) and assumes that you have a general working knowledge of PSP.

Scrapkit of choice - I used the PTU kit “Pastel Princess” made by Baby Cakes Scraps. She has a FREEBIE that goes with this kit too! The tagger-sized kit is available for only $3 on her blog. I am planning on writing a couple more tutorials using this same kit, but no matter what you’ll be getting your money’s worth – it’s FULL of great elements and gorgeous papers! Be sure to check out the rest of her blog: http://babycakesscraps.blogspot.com/

Scraps needed: Frame, elements, and word art

Tube of choice – I am using the artwork of PinUp Toons, www.pinuptoons.com. I have purchased a license to use this work. If you do not have a license, please do not use this work. If you would like more info on purchasing a license, visit CILM

Plug-Ins - EyeCandy 3.1 – You can get it for free here: http://pircnet.com/downloads.html (This version is distributed for free with the permission of Alien Skin.) This is a great plug-in that you can use over and over again!

Mura’s Meister: Copies - You can get it for free here: http://www.photoshop-filters.com/downloads/mura/mmCopies13.zip

Font of choice – I am using “Annabelle.”

You will need Animation Shop if you want to animate your tag.

Here we go!

First, open a new canvas 500 x 500, white. Open your tube and duplicate it into a new window (just use Shift+D). Close the original and leave the duplicate up for reference.

Open your frame of choice. I am using the cardboard frame with the pink frame wrap (which is included in the freebie), resized 70%. Copy and paste onto your canvas.

Copy and paste your tube onto your canvas. I resized mine 80%. Position tube and frame as you like. Save.

Open your crown/tiara element. I am using “Diamond Tiara” (also in the freebie) resized 50%, then sharpened. Copy and paste onto your canvas, above your frame layer but below your tube layer. Free rotate tiara 30% to the left. Position on the top left of the frame. Save.

Open your flower element. I am using “Pink Crystal” (not included in freebie), resized 50%, then sharpened. Copy and paste onto your canvas, just above the background layer.

Apply Mura’s Meister:Copies – Preset “Tiling: Angle” using default settings. Duplicate this layer. Save.

On the original Mura’s Meister’d layer (the bottom one) apply a Gaussian Blur of 20. (Adjust>Blur>Gaussian Blur: Radius:20)

Activate your frame layer. Using your Magic Wand, mode set to Add and tolerance and feather at 0, click inside the frame (on both sides of the ribbon).

Selections>Invert. Click on your blurred layer and hit “Delete.”

Repeat on the non-blurred Mura’s Meister’d layer.

Selections>None. Save.

Copy and paste onto the center of your canvas, just above the white background layer.

Apply Mura’s Meister: Copies using the same settings as before. Reduce the opacity of this layer to 75%.

Activate your frame layer. Using your Magic Wand, mode set to Add and tolerance and feather at 0, click OUTSIDE of the frame.

Selections>Modify>Expand by 5 pixels. Selections>Invert. Click on your word art layer and hit “Delete.” Selections>None. Save.

Add a new raster layer. It should be your top layer.
