Blush

Supplies

Scrapkit of choice - I used the freebie scrapkit “Verdant Blush” by Krissy. You can get the full kit at her blog here: http://krissysscraps.blogspot.com/2008/05/verdant-blush-kit-freebie.html

Scraps needed: 2 or 3 papers, frame, embellishments of choice

Tube of choice – I am using art that is ©Jennifer Janesko, http://www.janesko.com. I have purchased a license to use this work. If you do not have a license, please do not use this work. If you would like more info on purchasing a license, visit www.creativeimagelicensing.com

Masks of choice – I am using Vix_Mask143. You can find it here: http://www.freewebs.com/vixpsp/masks.htm. Just scroll down until you see the group with 143 in it. She has great masks, so you’ll probably download more than one set of masks. Whatever you download, please leave her some love…

Font of choice – I am using “Aja,” which is a pay to use font so I can not share it.

Plug-In – VM Distortion – Broken Mirror (a free filter) – You can get it here: http://www.photoshop-filters.com/html/visman.htm

Optional – Eye Candy - Gradient Glow for text

This tutorial is written using PSP X2, but should be easy to do on other versions. It is written assuming you have a general working knowledge of PSP.

Here we go!

First, open a new canvas 600 x 600. Then, flood fill white. Open your tube and duplicate it into a new window (just use Shift+D). Close the original and leave the duplicate up.

Open a light, textured paper – I am using “Paper 15” from the kit. Copy and paste it onto your canvas. Lower the opacity to 25. Merge down. Save.

Open a darker paper of your choice – I am using “Paper 4” from the kit. Copy it and paste it onto your canvas.

Now, with your darker paper layer active, apply your mask. I am using Vix_Mask143. Be sure that “Source luminance” is checked, “Fit to canvas” is checked, “Hide all mask” is checked, and “Invert transparency” is UNchecked.

Now, right-click on your mask layer and choose “Delete.” Then choose “Yes” to merge the mask into the layer below. Right click on the merged layer and choose “Merge,” then choose “Merge Group.” Save again.

On your mask layer, Adjust>Blur>Gaussian Blur – Radius of 3.

Copy and paste your frame onto the canvas, I am using “Frame 3” from the kit.  Duplicate the frame.

On the bottom frame layer, apply “VM Distortion - Broken Mirror” using these settings:

Pieces – 16

Gap – 31

Falling Height - 17

Entropy - 115

Transparency – 0

Mode – 45

On the “broken” frame layer, Image>Mirror. Then, Adjust>Blur>Gaussian Blur – Radius of 2. Save.

Below your frame layers, but above your mask layer, copy and paste your 3rd paper. I am using “Paper 8” from the kit.

Copy and paste your tube above the new paper layer.

Now, activate your top frame layer.

Using your magic wand, (mode: add, tolerance and feather: 0), click inside the frame. Also click inside the little wire areas that are inside the frame, until you have the entire area inside the frame selected.

Selections>Modify>Expand by 15 pixels. Then, Selections>Invert.

Activate your tube layer and hit the delete key. Activate your newest paper layer and hit the delete key. Selections>None. Save.

Apply a drop shadow to your tube layer. Go to Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow. I am using settings 4, 4, 60, 8, color – black.

Copy and paste embellishments of choice. I used “Tagback 1” in the lower right hand corner. And I used “Butterfly 2” (resized 65% and free rotated 25 degrees to the left) on the top left corner of the frame. I added a drop shadow of 4, 4, 60, 8, color – black to both elements. Save.

Now, before you add your copyright info and other text, resize the tag to its final size. First, crop off any excess around the edges. Then, choose Image>Resize. Under “Advanced settings,” be sure “Lock aspect ratio” and “Resize all layers” are both CHECKED. Save again. (I didn’t crop any, but resized to 500x500.)

Now add your copyright info, license number (if applicable), and tagger’s mark (if you use one). Save

Finally, add your name. I am using font “Aja” at a size of 72, stroke width 1.0, using #aa4d4d for my stroke (foreground) color and also for my fill (background) color. Convert to raster layer.

I wrote my name across the tagback, so I free rotated it 40 degrees to the left. I also added a white gradient glow, width 5, to make it more visible.

Go to Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow. I am using settings 8, 8, 45, 8, color black.

Save and you are done!
