Bedroom Eyes

Supplies

Scrapkit of choice - I used the PTU kit “Jade Dragon” made by Baby Cakes Scraps. The tagger-sized kit is available for only $2.50 on her blog. You can find it here and be sure to check out the rest of her blog: http://babycakesscraps.blogspot.com/ I am hoping to write a couple more tutorials using this same kit, but no matter what you’ll be getting your money’s worth – it’s FULL of great elements and gorgeous papers!

Scraps needed: Frame, paper, elements of choice

Tube of choice – I am using the artwork of Jason Chan, http://www.jasonchanart.com . He is a very talented free to use artist, and you can find some of his tubes at The Zone. The one I am using is included with the supplies. If you use his art, you must add his copyright and website info to your finished tag.

Mask of choice – I am using a mask by Sonia Rodiger, who has given me permission to supply it.

Font of choice – I am using “Yorstat,” which you can get here: http://www.fontface.com/fonts/y.html

All links and supplies shared with permission.

Supplies can be found here (mask and tube only).

Let's go!

First, open a new canvas 500 x 500, transparent. Open your tube and duplicate it into a new window (just use Shift+D). Close the original and leave the duplicate up for reference.

Open BCS Draped Frame. Resize it 70%. Copy and paste it onto your canvas. Save your progress.

Open BCS Paper 10. Resize it 60%. Copy and paste it below your frame layer.

Apply mask of choice. I am using Mask 2, by Sonia Rodiger, “Invert transparency” CHECKED. Right-click on your mask layer and choose “Merge Group.” Save.

Copy and paste your tube below your frame layer, but above your mask layer. Keep your tube large, as this will only be a background image.

Add a new raster layer just below your tube layer. Flood fill the new layer with a color from your tube or frame. I am using #00969f.

Activate your frame layer. Using your Magic Wand, tolerance and feather set to zero, click inside your frame. Selections>Modify>Expand by 5. Selections>Invert.

Click on your tube layer and hit delete. Then, click on your flood filled layer and hit delete.

Selections>None. Save.

On your tube layer, Adjust>Hue & Saturation>Colorize. Change both settings to zero.

Then, change the blend mode on your tube layer to “Soft Light.”

Right click on your tube layer, and choose “Merge Down.” Save.

On your newly merged layer, change the Opacity to 75%. Save.

Go back to your original tube, resize 60% if you are using the one supplied, and then copy and paste it onto your canvas.

Your tube should be below your frame layer.

Add a drop shadow of choice to your tube. Go to Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow. I am using settings -5, -5, 60, 10, color black. Save.

Activate your frame layer. Using your Magic Wand, tolerance and feather set to zero, click inside your frame. Selections>Modify>Expand by 5. Selections>Invert.

Click on your new tube layer and hit delete. Selections>None. Save.

Open BCS Bead String, resize 30%, and copy and paste onto your frame. Move it to the lower part of your frame.

Activate your frame layer. Using your Magic Wand, tolerance and feather set to zero, click OUTside your frame.

Click back on your bead string layer and hit delete. Selections>None. Save.

Open BCS Gold Fan, resize 50%, and copy and paste it onto your frame. Image>Free Rotate left 45 degrees. Move it to the top left side of your frame.

Duplicate the fan. Image>Mirror, Image>Flip. Save.

Open BCS Kanzashi Bloom, resize 30%, and copy and paste it onto the lower left corner of your frame. Save.

Now add your copyright info, license number (if applicable), and tagger’s mark (if you use one). Save

Finally, add your name. I am using font “Yorstat” at a size of 100, stroke 1.0. I am using #339f98 as my fill/background color, and #0e111c as my stroke/foreground color. Convert to raster layer.

Apply an inner bevel to your text (Effects>3D Effects>Inner Bevel), using the settings below:

Repeat Inner Bevel.

If you like, you can add a drop shadow to your text. Go to Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow. I am using settings 3, 3, 50, 3, color black. Save.

Save as .png and you are done!
