Home of Australian Steam and Diesel Sounds on the Web
Hi and welcome to the home of steam and diesel train sounds from Australia and sometimes overseas. There are also lots of pics of my rail related travels on the images site and for those into 3D modelling, textures for use in rail simulators or anything else that might take your fancy.
If you are a ferroequinoaudiophile (you like steam train sounds) like myself, there are Audio CDs for sale too if you would like some higher quality recordings.
Update!
Update 22/7/07 - A few new audio tracks are now on the steam page, hope you enjoy them. A new website is currently being built under my own domain name www.steamsounds.org.au . For those who know my good friend David Bailey, there is a startling resemblance to his domain http://www.steamsounds.org.uk and also Joerg Dreckmann's http://www.dampfsound.de/ as we are hoping that the similar domain names help people remember our sites. Stay tuned for when the new site goes live, but hopefully in the next month.
This site will still keep going, with links to the new site, however I'm hoping to focus this one on my Trainz Railroad Simulator work (see http://www.trainzclassics.com). A lot of the recordings I have made were used in the latest release of the Trainz genre, mostly for menu and loading screen sounds, but also in the soundtrack of the credits movie.
And just to prove my recordings are more famous than the recordist, the ABC recently used some of them (with permission) in the telemovie "Curtin" about Australian Prime Minister John Curtin, who led the government during World War 2. For more info, there is a description of the movie here: http://www.abc.net.au/programsales/s1901337.htm
What's on this site
Right Away! Railway Recordings is dedicated to bringing to you some of the sounds and images of steam locomotives in action across Australia and (hopefully) overseas. I've also collected a fair few diesel recordings and have a soft spot for some of the older classes still running. There is a large collection of recordings available now in 22kHz mp3 format and a range of photos in the image gallery of items that go along with the sounds, or that may be of interest. While these are some of my better recordings, high quality digitally recorded and/or mastered (for some of the older analog ones) including lots not available on the website are available on my CDs, available through the audio CDs page.
I hope you enjoy your look around and some of the recordings that I
will feature on here. Please come back often as I hope to keep
the site updated on a regular basis with new recordings. If you
would like to be notified when the website is updated, please
send me your email via the contact me page. If you have any
questions about the recordings or have any comments about the
recordings (especially some dates of the older ones on here), feel free to contact me through the Contact Me page.
