Mission Statement

The main purpose of this site is to provide a haven of information and assistance for all turtle owners or turtle lovers.  On this site, you will find information about aquatic turtles, mainly targeted toward the "dime store turtle", the Red Eared Slider.  This site is dedicated to you, the turtle owner, and, more importantly, your turtles!

Site Dedication

I dedicate this site to two highly important creatures, my two Red Eared Slider turtles, Snoopy and Droopy.  They have been a big part of my life from a little over two years now.  I love them, love to watch them grow and change, and look into their world to watch them swim, live and co-exist.

Meet Snoopy&Droopy!
I Had to Have Them!
As I added more and more to this site, trying to make it more helpful for everyone, I realized something. I had totally left out the two reasons I made this site in the first place! Snoopy&Droopy are both Red Eared Sliders, and are both about two years old. Before them, I had never really had a pet of my own, and hadn't really taken much responsibility for family pets. A friend of my sisters had a Red Eared Slider; when I saw it, I decided then and there that I must have at least one. The next chance I had, I bought not one, but two. Bam! Like a flash, all my ideas about caring for a pet changed. All of the sudden I was responsible for two little lives and everything they were involved in. Looking back, I wouldn't have changed it for the world. As a result of having Snoopy&Droopy I discovered my true love for all animals.
Snoopy&Droopy Gain Their Names
The day I brought them home, Snoopy&Droopy decided themselves what they were to be known as. On the way home, my family and I decided to stop at a Captain D's for lunch. The turtles were put into a small container with water to travel in; thinking they would be ok, I left them in the vehicle, of course opening the windows so it wouldn't get too hot. Upon returning to the van, my joy turned to sudden fear, horror, and sadness. One of the turtles was missing; it seems that she too had a taste for fish. Though I had only had them for a few hours, I was devastated. My mom and I began to search all over the van. After a few minutes, the runaway was found! It seems that she had gotten out of her container and wondered around the van, ultimately ending up in track of the sliding door. Luckily (thank God) she was unharmed; suffering only a small scratch on her shell, the scar she still carries today. On the way home, I realized what their names must be. My little runaway turtle gained the title of Snoopy, because she had a need to "snoop" into places where she didn't need to be. The timid one was deemed Droopy, because she was too lazy, or possibly too intelligent to wonder into danger.
Lovin' Every Minute
It hasn't been the easiest two years of my life, but the work has been well worth it. It is an indescribable feeling to know that you have helped to take care of an animal successfully. I love to watch them, they beg for food at my site, and seem to be happy. As they grow, and their personalities develop, I can see that it is evident that Snoopy&Droopy were smarter than me when it came to their names. Their names a perfectly fitted to their dispositions; Snoopy will try anything once, and Droopy sets back and watches, waiting to see what happens to Droopy before she tries anything. Of course, where food is involved, this all changes. Romaine lettuce is a delicacy; something they will fight for, taking it from the other's mouth, even though more lettuce if floating at the water's surface. With all the work and responsibility, when it comes to my turtles, I've been Lovin' Every Minute!
