Thanks
for listening to Turn It Up! with TiM, and thanks
for visiting the site. I am on every Thursday from 6 to 8 pm, and
I hope to be bringing you random music and absurdities
for a long time to come! If you have any requests, you can call the
station at
(509) 747-3807 or e-mail me at TurnItUp@kyrs.org
KYRS 92.3 FM is a non-profit, volunteer-run community radio
station, and we depend on listeners like you to
help support the station, as we don't run commercials, so if you can
spare a dime, please, by all means, mail us some moola. You know you
want to.
The station broadcasts from Spokane, Washington, in the beautifully
restored community building at 35 W. Main Street, on the Third
Floor (this amazing building houses other like-minded activist groups
like the NAACP, Center for Justice, Citizens for Clean Air, and Senator
Lisa Brown (D).

I play just about EVERYTHING on my show!!
Mostly I prefer independent or decidely non-commercial artists, but do
play
things ranging from Johnny Cash to Janis Joplin, Dead Kennedys to Miles
Davis, RATM to Bikini Kill, Fugazi to Citizen Fish, KRS-ONE to Sublime,
Sarah Jones to Wesley Willis, Crass to L7, Ramones to Faith No
More, Public Enemy to Le Tigre, Joan Jett to Nirvana, Sleater-Kinney to

me a line sometime, or give me a call at the station on Thursdays
between 6 and 8 p.m. I'd love to hear from you, whether it's a

If
you're in a band, please e-mail or call the station during my
show! I'd
be glad to spin your record, so if you have a recording of your band on
cd, tape, or
vinyl, you can send it to the station, or send me a link for
downloadble mp3s. I prefer music that isn't sexist, racist, or
homophobic, so if you're a
conservative extremist zealot, or a nazi, 'F' off!
Also, If you are in a band or you are a solo artist
and you would like to be on KYRS' new weekly radio show called In The Studio, send us a demo and a short bio to:

ATTN: Greed-heads looking for Free Stuff and Give-aways!
|
Listen each week for your chance to (possibly) win tickets, cds,
videos, and other
random crap (if I feel like it)! So far I've given away tickets to see
Joan Jett & The
Blackhearts, Sinbad (the hilarious comedian), and Carrot Top (the annoying red-head).. So stay tuned, or
miss out on your chance to be a contest junkie. I have to give you your
fix somehow... And yes, that is me with Joan Jett, the
nicest, most awesome and gracious down-to-earth rock star I have EVER
met. She completely rocks, and has inspired myself greatly, in addition
to numerous bands and female
artists - most notably Bikini Kill, Amy Ray, the Eyeliners! Give her
praise or perish, hethen! Or not.

I'm writing a new form of haiku - It has no limit on syllables. It's actually just me rambling. This piece is entitled "Spokantucky":
Residual meth rubbing off from the horde of tweekers skipping around town. Yellow school buses on cinder blocks in dying-grass, weed-infested front yards. Fried mullets and pools of motor oil. Dusty Nascar hats and missing teeth. Beat up Camaros with primered doors, Naked lady mudflaps on life-sized hot wheel trucks, Flattened beer cans and empty propane tanks. Spokane, are you nothing but dry-wall and blackeyes?
This poem is also about Spokane, but remains untitled:
Must you allow thee abuse of your children at the hands of pedophile priests, molesting mayors and cops copping a feel? Authority - it figures. Repressive, in nature. Aggressive, in stature. It might not rhyme but do you wind the hovering clock? When will you open your heart and open your mind? Same sex marriage and people of color living next door won't stifle your city, But the hatred you have for others will hate your offspring into the ground. Fear and self-loathing, lost and vacant. Shouldn't we teach our children TRUTH? What more proof do you need? Haven't you seen the casualities?
