I'd link to ask a question and the answer / results may be very interesting.
Let's assume there are 2 players at the same roulette table.
Player #1 is playing 1 single number at all times. He continues to play that number flat betting on and on until it finally shows.
Player #2 begins by playing every number on the table. He removes the winning numbers as they show, also flat betting the entire time.
What will the results be ?
Well, firstly - both players will end up eventually playing the exact same number. It will be the number that is the "last in line" more or less. The number that goes 150+ spins without showing while all of the other numbers have shown.
Now, Player #1 playing 1 number has been very unlucky and he began his session playing the "future" doomed number. And remember, Player #2 started by playing all the numbers on the layout and removed them as they won...both betting flat with no progression.
So... over the course of 150 spins (example), Player #1 is still on that sleeper and is 150 units down. Player #2 has played out all of the numbers and is on this same number now too. He has put roughly 1,500 units on the table during this entire 150 spins, but now at the "end", both players have 1 unit on the same number.
At some time in the future, the number finally shows. Who is better off ? Does the appearance of the other numbers benefit Player #2 along the way and give him an advantage over Player #1 ?
The next thing to consider... Player #1 will never never see 1 unit of profit. Why ? Because the "doomed" sleeper would have to show within 35 spins in order to make him a profit, and this can't happen due to the number of numbers on the table.... So, player 1 will play on and on until the number appears, gain 35 units for the win and end the session negative.
Player #2 plays all the numbers, removes the winners and plays on until he too is on this single long term sleeper. He can't possibly be in profit can he ?
Now for the testing results which may be of interest...

"Play All" is player #2 who covers all the number of the table from the beginning and ends playing only 1 number.
"Play One" is Player #1 who covers only 1 number (the long term sleeper)

Pretty amazing isn't it ?
I think most people would expect Player #2 to be far behind and well into the negative balance because of playing so many numbers, not to mention over 1,500 units played out during an average session. And Player #1 uses only 1 unit at a time, no more or less until the "doomed" number shows.
Here are some points of interest from this data (in no significant order) :
9 of the 20 sessions (45%) end in profit for Player #2 0 of the 20 sessions (0%) end in profit for Player #1
almost 3,000 spins and 20 complete sessions later... Player #2 is losing an average of $0.09 per spin played. Player #1 is losing an average of $0.75 per spin played. To be more "dramatic", let's look at it this way - Player #2 loses 9 one hundredths of 1 unit per spin Player #1 loses 3/4 of 1 unit per spin... quite a massive difference.
The other comparisons are at the bottom of the chart... But the math shows a large benefit to the player who covers all of the numbers at the start / vs the player who plays only the single number.

Very interesting results, probably not what anyone expected to see.
The above is complicated, how could someone cover all 37/38 numbers every spin and keep removing them, etc. Not a simple task.
The good thing is, this works on every location. (Even money, dozens and columns, streets, lanes, etc)
The player who covers all the bets and finishes with the lone sleeper, will end up long term no where near as bad off as the player who plays the lone sleeper, waiting for it to show. From the above tests, the player who covers all the locations doesn't even finish negative where the house edge says they should.
If this sparks some interest in you, please do your own experiments and throw in as safe of a progression as you can find / come up with. What you will find is one of the best ways to play this game and keep your head above water....even when the "session from hell" shows it's ugly head.

Here we have another bet selection method - All even money, columns, dozens, and lane bets that are independent of one another. Requires 18 units to begin for the player who covers the entire table. Player #1 though only covers the long term sleeper.

Using $5.00 as the unit amount - here is the comparison of the two players and their ending balances :

Again, a very large difference between the two players. Covering all of the locations lost only $8.25 per session while playing only the one "doomed" location lost $42.25 per session on average (based on $5.00 chips flat betting)
