Frank van Lunteren was born and raised in Arnhem, the Netherlands. His interest in military history dates to the 1980's, when he visited the Airborne Museum in Oosterbeek for the first time. Van Lunteren studied political history at the Radboud University in Nijmegen. At the 61st convention of the 82nd Airborne Division Association in Harrisburg, PA in August 2007 he was Guest Speaker at the 504th Regimental Dinner.
From June 2001 till January 2005 he conducted research on the wartime service of Ted Bachenheimer (1923-1944), the best scout of the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment during World War Two. The next project focused on one parachute infantry company - A Company of the 1st Battalion. Van Lunteren traced down several veterans of this outfit, resulting in reestablishing friendships between troopers after even 62 years! He attended one of the largest A Company reunions in years at the earlier mentioned convention in Harrisburg.
The author’s current projects include a regimental history of the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment and a book about Operation Market Garden. Articles from his hand appeared in The Static Line Magazine, After The Battle and the Newsletter of the Society Friends of the Airborne Division. Van Lunteren is member of the Groesbeek Airborne Friends (Holland Chapter, 82nd Airborne Division Association), honory member of No.36 Branch of the Normandy Veterans Association and an enthusiastic supporter of the 49th ‘Polar Bear’ Infantry Division Association. He resides in Arnhem – the famous town of the Battle of Arnhem.
