Background
Horatio grew up in a satyr colony, somewhat removed from the world of men. But when he came of age, his people appointed him as an ambassador to the other races of the world. Thus did Horatio set out into the world with nothing but an extensive wallet, exceptional equipment, and unreasonably thorough training in a great number of skills and techniques. He found that his particularly skills were awfully useful in some of the more distasteful work in the world, so he found much work as a mercenary. He started working with a team comprised of the centaur archer Edgar, the brutish minotaur Gnash, the veritable mortal avatar of Distaste known as Rance, and some cat-wench who died or something. Along the way, he led a brief peasant revolt and even had a brief stint as king of a mighty nation.

Personality
Horatio was taught from an early age that it was the duty of satyrs to protect the forests, particularly from young virgin wenches who might wander into said forests. So long as they somehow no longer possessed one of those qualities, everything was kosher. And Horatio gladly accepted the sacred mission to keep young virgin wenches out of his forest in the second easiest but most pleasureable way possible. He has since applied these practices to women quite far from any forests, just to keep his skills as a guardian sharp. Horatio was also taught the nature of fire at a very young age, and learned that there is both a destructive side and a protective side to it. As he was taught, regular controlled fires in forests efficiently clear away flammable debris, which would build up and result a catastrophic blaze if unchecked. He was fascinated with the study of flame since then, and even endorses the burning of the settlements of men when they encroach too far upon the wilds. And when Horatio, in his travels, learned of a more effective way to control fire--with the mind--he set out to learn more, gradually completing his mastery of flames.
