Background
Aotarou is the heir apparent to the Yukida Clan, an offshoot of the Ikkakujuu Clan. While originally an elite winter task-force of the Ikkakujuu, the Yukida have since become alienated due to their lack of adherence to their equestrian tradition as well as their inherent psychic abilities. Since time immemorial, the Yukida samurai have trained both body and mind for warfare, learning to control thermal energies with a mere thought. As a result, they became feared by the Ikkakujuu aristocracy and were exiled to the remote mountains to the north. Aotarou himself is no exception to the Yukida tradition. Following the path of his ancestors, he has recently realized his psionic potential. The sacred sword passed down through the generations has finally been given to him, as he has set out to apply his skills in the real world. He is currently 18 years old.

Personality
Aotarou was raised as a proud warrior, but, sheltered within the confines of the now defunct Yukida training compound, he has had no opportunities to practice his skills in a realistic setting. As such, he knows much about the ways of combat but has never known a true conflict. Being used to a life of relative luxury, only ever working on his studies and martial arts, he expects others to take care of most real work as he simply delegates. He adheres strictly to the code of Bushido, valuing his family above himself. Aotarou follows the three tenets of the Yukida warriors: Body, Mind, and Foe: Once one conquers one's body, one can conquer one's mind, and only once one has conquered his own mind can he conquer his foe. This is why he follows the twofold path of taijutsu (体術; "body techniques;" physical martial arts) and suiton no jutsu (水遁の術; "water element techniques;" psionics embracing the defensive properties of water) on the way to realizing the hyoudou (氷道; "the way of ice"), which will allow him to turn his mastery of water and thermal energies into a potent offense. As a result of this training, as he comes ever closer to his goal, Aotarou becomes increasingly more contemplative and cool-headed. While he accepts his family's exile, Aotarou tends to be pessimistic about their future, fearing that his family must either fade into complete obscurity or lash back at their oppressors, thereby inciting them to exterminate the Yukida clan.
