Mentorship/College Preparatory Coaching

MENTORSHIP APPLICATIONS DUE SEPTEMBER 25TH

The Mentorship Program is an individualized course of study in a particular area of theatre arts (Acting, Directing, Playwriting, Dance, Voice, Technical Theatre, etc.), which prepares a highly-motivated student for further study and/or preparation for admission auditions/interviews to college, university, and conservatory Theatre Arts training programs or talent-based scholarships. Tri-School Conservatory Mentors serve as companions on a student's journey. Mentorship is a partnership with teacher, student and parent.

Who is eligible for the Mentorship Program?

Juniors and Seniors who have demonstrated, through the course of their training in Tri-School, a high degree of self-motivation, professionalism, discipline and drive. Students who qualify for the Mentorship Program have shared a love and dedication to theatre arts, having chosen it as their primary focus in co-curricular activities throughout their high school career. The Mentorship program is open to all Tri-School Juniors and Seniors but is especially recommended to students who intend to pursue study in the field of theatre arts in their post-secondary education.

What is the time/financial commitment?

Because mentorship and individual coaching are highly individualized experiences, there is no specific time commitment. Students will arrange conferences with their Mentor to establish the direction of the student's plan. The parent/s must attend the first meeting with the student and mentor to discuss future plans and what the needs of the student are. Mentorship sessions for student and mentor will then be scheduled as often as needed, most likely 2-4 times per month. The cost for mentorship is $150, and the term begins in October and ends in June with the school year.

What is included in the Mentorship Program?

  • Ongoing dialogue with parents concerning the student's direction, motivation, and course of training
  • Individualized course of study: consultation, instruction, and recommendation
  • Assistance in the search for summer programs, and ultimately college and university theatre training programs that fit the needs of the student
  • Assistance with selection and preparation of audition materials, portfolios and/or or interviews for colleges, recognition programs or scholarships
  • Letters of recommendation

How do I apply?

A student must return the form and the one-page letter (described on the attached form) to Tri-School. The student will be asked to complete a self-evaluation of strengths and weaknesses. Following the self evaluation, a meeting will be set with the student, the parent, and the Mentor to discuss the student's direction and to set a course of training. Students will be notified of their mentorship status within one week after the deadline.
