Tri-State Fishing Tournaments of New England


Rules

1. Each club may enter as many six (6) man teams as they wish.
2. The tournament will consist of twelve (12) hours fishing time at the fishing location. It will begin at 12:01 am on Saturday and end at 9:00am on Sunday
3. Team captains will be responsible for their members signing in, meeting with their group and being at the meeting place on time.  ROOM NUMBERS MUST BE POSTED NEXT TO THE NAME.
4. Group leaders and assistants will be responsible for getting all score sheets turned in on time, signed or initialed by at least one member of an opposing club.  Each group member is responsible for initialing his or her own score.  Group leaders will be responsible for getting score sheets in between 9am and Noon on Saturday and by 10:00 am on Sunday.  Failure to do this will result in the group leader becoming ineligble for group pins.  They will also be responsible for posting their room numbers and the time and place of meetings (meetings to be held at hotel) Group members must be present within 15 minutes of time posted.
4a. Group leaders are drawn by lottery on Friday night from existing list if necessary.
4b. Group leaders are responsible for securing disclaimers before participatation in the tournament.
5. Any individual may fish for another club.
6. Group majority rules in setting fishing hours (not to exceed twelve (12) hours of time at fishing location.) Time is to start as soon as a line is in the water.  Time will stop as soon as everyone takes their line out of the water.  Group leaders will be open to suggestions as to where to fish and time to move.  If a group leader abdicates their responsability, the group must notify the secretary or the captain of the host club.
7. NO BOATS!! NO VEHICLES ON THE BEACH!! one (1) rod with one (1) lure and a dropper. Bait is optional. Bait must be fished with no more than two (2) hooks. Fish must be in possession of angler to count.
8. Eligible fish will be Bluefish and Striped Bass and other eligible fish. Zero(0) points for any kept fish, one (1) point for any released eligible fish.  Any measured Striped Bass measuring 28" and above will be ten (10) points.  Any measured fish 34" and above will be fifteen (15) points.  Any eligible fish 40" and above will be twenty (20) points.  All Blue Fish caught and released up to 34" two (2) points. NO snapper blues under 12"  will count.  First tie breaker; Largest single fish, Second tie breaker; actual measured fish with time recorded.  Any fish counting ten (10) points or more must be measured and verified by a member of another club.
9. All fish that are measured must be measured from tip of the snout to the fork of the tail while laying on a tape on a flat surface.  A member of one team shall measure a fish for another member of another team.  All fish caught and released must be witnessed and verified by a member of another team.
10. Anyone with a fish on when time runs out may bring it in for scoring.
11. The tournament griveance committee will consist of: The secretary, 2 members of Stripers Unlimited, 2 members of Plum Island Surfcaster, 2 Members of Mass Striped Bass Assocation, 2 members of Portland Surfcasters and 2 members of Marblehead Surfcasters.  A paid team from each club must be present to be on the grivevance committee.  The secretary is a voting member.  Any griveance must be submitted before the end of the leg and addressed as soon as possible.
12. Each partcipating club should have a piece of safety equipment, consisting of one (1) 50-foot throw line and a first aid kit.
13. No one will receive more than one trophy in any category.
14. If a club enters anyone under 18Yrs of age, they must have written parental permission, therby relieving the TRI-STATE TOURNAMENT  of any responsibility.
15. If anyone wishes to be a group leader, it must be listed on the entry blank.
16. Group Leader trophy will be decided by the total number of people per group divided into the total number of points.
17. Awards will be as follows: First place team gold pins for team members.  Second place teams silver pins, Third place teams bronze pins. Each member will recieve a patch with year and leg to add to their jacket sleeve. Bob Pond High Individual, Group Leader, a pin to all members in the group in which the Group Leader takes the trophy, a special plaque given for most points caught exclusively on a fly rod each leg, and the Bill Tilley Award for individual under 15 with the most points at each leg. The annual end of the year Al Proietti Memorial Award ( for the person with the most points fishing all three tournament legs.) Overall length of three measurd fish will be used as the tie breaker.  Jeff Stoloff Fly-Fishing award (for the person fishing all three legs with the most points for the year), largest fish over thirty-six (36)" and the second larges fish over thirty-six (36)".
18. Entry fee is $70.00 per team and $10.00 per alternate.  Individual entry fee will be $12.00.
19 Tri-State Tournament, Inc. will be responsible for the payment of the accomodations for the Secretary and Secretary expenses.
20. Any member of a group who wishes to not fish any session with their group may fish with another group, but their fish will not count.
21. A special award for any fish 40" or over.  This award will be a pin stating the length of the fish.
22. Boundaries for Cape Cod Leg are as follows: North side of Cape Cod Canal Spanning Scusset Jetty to the Mass Maritime Jetty.
