121 Insights Into a Young Girls Mind

It all started as an assignment. At the beginning of my senior year, My teacher gave us instructions to keep a daily journal. She provided the topics and told us to write a paragraph or so about each of them. I love to write, and I wanted to make it even more challenging for myself. So ... I did. I wrote all of them in poem form. Most of them are free verse form and all of them are influenced by different things in my life.

At the time that I was writing this book...before it was even a book...I was working at McDonald's which I had been since I was 16. I was dating my now husband and was engaged at the time. I was struggling with my faith as a Christian. I was going through all of the humilities of being a teenager. I was trying to hold grades in between all of it, but most of all I was trying to find who I really was. All of these elements can be seen in this book. There are poems that I don't like, that I am ashamed of, that I absolutely love, and some that would have been better off forgotten. But all of them are real, all of them are from the heart, and all of them are what makes a girl.

After writing the poems and giving the journal to my teacher she told me I should find a publisher, it took me 4 years to get enough courage to do it. Now that I have. I hope that people will read this collection with an open mind, and remember, I was (still am) in love, one of the biggest influences on a young girl.
