Our Horses (past and present)

If you have a Tresaison bred horse, we would be pleased to hear from you.  Please contact us with your news, we are always keen to hear how our horses are doing.

Royal Highlight  (Blossom)

Blossom is an ID x TB mare by Coosheen Liam (exported to Australia) who is a fantastic schoolmistress.  She was a masters horse for 3 seasons, she has competed successfully in open working hunter classes at County  level and she has gained 10 BE points with a young rider in her first affiliated events culminating in a very creditable round at the JRN Championships at Weston Park in 2004 (at 1* level).   A completely versatile horse she is invaluable and loves nothing better than her hunting through the winter!

A lovely photograph sent to us by Sue Gardner of her Dance With Wolves clan all out hunting accompanied by Sues own Cocktail, a fine old gentleman who adores showing the young ones how it should be done!

LJ Prince of Thieves (Hellovalass/Dance With Wolves)

Sue recently bought Hellovalass from us so she will be reunited with her earliest two offspring!

LJ Prince of Thieves  (Harry)

Completing a very satisfactory clear round at the Barbury Castle inaugural BE event.  In his first 13 BE events Harry was placed in no less than 10 of them – an excellent achievement.

He passed his stallion assessment with flying colours and briefly stood at stud before being acquired by John and Sue Gardner to be evented and show jumped by their daughter in law Maddy, with whom he has had all his recent successes.

Elljay Samson

Sam is by Dance With Wolves out of a little 15hh black Welsh Sec D mare.  He has defied our expectations by growing to a huge 17hh!

He has stunning paces and following a difficult start in life where he was not properly cared for he was brought back to peak condition by a good friend of ours.  When she began schooling him she found out that he had been hiding some stunning paces.

He has now gone to a dressage home where he is competing very successfully at BD.

Elljay Timberwolf

Timber is a part bred Appaloosa by Dance with Wolves out of a ¾ TB mare by Drayton.  At 17hh he is a big chap and a true M/W.  He was born a chestnut with just sclera characteristics and has now coloured out to a proper snowflake.

He has competed successfully up to Intermediate level BE eventing and has a huge and bold jump across country and is described as a ‘Cross Country machine’.  Also shown with great success Timber is a real head turner.

Elljay Beowulf

A very attractive and talented show jumper by Dance with Wolves out of an Irish x TB mare.  Pictured here with Katy Dietrich of Tall Trees Arena, Cornwall , who started him in his show jumping career.

Batwell Coraline

A daughter of Dance with Wolves out of a Capitall Luke mare.  A very smart little mare with great athleticism and paces.

Always placed when shown,   Coral came to us for a while as a riding horse and brood mare.

She bred a super foal by the Rowberton Stud's late General Custer, Tresaison Timbuktoo.

She is now owned by Trewindsor Stud, Wales where she combines competing and breeding

Tresaison Gracie

2yo Knabstrupper filly by the graded stallion Nobody's Harlequin out of Rozel Bay, at her first Show during summer 2006.

Starting as she means to go on by winning the turnout class (despite the pouring rain!)

as a foal with mum                        and this is dad!

Tresaison Cefyn

A rather unusual part of our herd, but a much loved little fella and of course always a great talking point!  We believe he is the only one of his kind in the UK and therefore a great rarity.  He is a miniature spotted mule standing
around 33” tall.

Bred by ourselves his dam is a  mini few spot mare and his sire is a black Mediterranean Miniature Donkey.  It was a bit of a surprise when he was born, as we had only realised Susie was in foal about two weeks before! When he was born with his big ears and little blanket we were smitten!  He is colouring out more and more each year and now sports many different colours in his summer coat whilst still retaining the beige around his eyes and muzzle like his Dad.

Cefyn (pronounced ‘Kevin’) comes from the Welsh words Ceffyl (horse) and Assyn (Donkey).  His main job is as a companion and lawn mower but we will perhaps be breaking him for our children to ride – if they are not too embarrassed!

Very sadly we lost Cefyn following a colic operation in August 2008.  It was a devastating blow for us and he is badly missed.  Such a character, he will never be forgotten.
