Hi! My name is Sarah Chaplin and I own and operate TreasureCrest©. My passion for all things Reptile, Aquatic and Amphibian started at a young age, and as soon as I moved out of my parents house I started building a collection of my own. I am currently studying for a Masters in Marine Biology at the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton, and so with my scientific background, my aim with this site was to provide as much detailed information about the care and breeding of Rhacodactylus geckos as possible.
TreasureCrest is a small, home run facility and that is the way it willl stay. Crested Geckos and their relatives are such unique, individual animals that I believe they deserve one-on-one attention right from the time the egg is laid, to the time the gecko arrives at its new home. Our adult geckos are our pets, as are the babies they produce, and therefore they are not treated in any other way.
Our adults are high quality, stunning animals and when cared for properly, so are the babies they produce. I believe in research and preparation before any new pet, so please do not be offended if you are somewhat 'quizzed' on their care before we let you buy one of our animals. I have provided a detailed caresheet in the Care Info section of our website which can provide you with the basics, but your research should not stop there. There are many books and resources for helping you provide these geckos with the care they need, and some of these have been listed for you at the bottom of the caresheet. I am always happy to answer any queries or problems you have via email; just email me at scTreasureCrest@aol.com
Our animals are not 'disposable' and you should be prepared to care for them for their whole lives, which can be over 20 years. Transport and moving is stressful on the animals and leads to them being seen as 'tradable' possessions, which is a view that we strongly disagree with. Therefore, if we believe that you are simply buying our animals to trade, the sale will not go through.
I make no apologies if these guidelines seem harsh; it is not my intention to come across as threatening. However, the welfare of our animals always comes first and it IS my intention to ensure that their care continues after they leave me.
Introducing Kurian...
%20159.jpg)
Kurian is a stunning male, who fires up to a deep chocolate coloured harlequin, with a beautiful solid cream back, and some good sized dalmatian spots that make that cream stand out even more. The amount of cream on Kurian's back, and the deep contrast of his body colour, which gets even darker than that pictured, I believe make Kurian a nice example of the 'Blonde Harlequin' morph, much desired by Crested Gecko collectors.

When he is not fired up, Kurian is a lovely pale mocha colour with interesting tones to his body. Kurian produces some stunning babies from his pairings with my females, particularly from his pairing with Madame Mim which often produces beautiful Red Harlequins.

Introducing Madame Mim...
%20004.jpg)
Madame Mim certainly lives up to her namesake, not only is she pink and spotty...she is absolutly MAD. Her beautiful solid body colour changes daily from a beautiful pastel pink to an intense orangey red.

Her patternless bicolour body is broken by a spattering of dalmatian spots. Madame Mim's offspring with Kurian often seem to have a good amount of both black and red coloured dalmatian spots; a trait which is very desirable in both the UK and USA.

Although, with her energetic temperament it was always to be expected, Madame Mim dropped her tail for unknown reasons one night, and without it, she seems even happier that before! She can always be found hanging upside down on the glass, or perched in her favourite Dracaena peering at anyone who walks by.

Introducing Setae...
%20053.jpg)
Shhh...Don't tell the others, but Setae is probably my favourite female. Her sweet disposition and beautiful colouration give her a quality which is irresistable!

Setae's colouration changes daily from a very pale creamy yellow, to a deep orange and all combinations inbetween. Her base colour is broken by well defined lateral stripes, making her an exellent example of the 'Tiger' morph (although her face always reminds me of a lion cub!).
%20274.jpg)
Setae's has been paired with Kurian for the last two years and has produced some very variable offspring, from striking 'Halloween Harlequins' (such as 'Tarquin' see below!) and highly spotted dalmatians to orange Tigers very similar to herself.

Introducing Tarragon...
%20072.jpg)
Tarragon is the hardest of my geckos to describe. Her colour changes from a fairly light green with reduced flame patterning down the dorsum, all the way down to a deep charcoal black which is incredibly difficult to photograph! She is also my largest Crested Gecko, weighing in at over 45g!
Tarragon is an incredibly sweet gecko and eats like no other gecko I own! She is very inquisitive and you can always see her peering at you from beneath her favourite hide.

I have very high hopes for her offspring this year, paired with Kurian, as I hope the combination of her dark skin tone and his creamy dorsum will produce some stunning combinations.

Introducing Flint...

Flint is the newest male to join the TreasureCrest family, and I have high hopes for him! Flint originates from Dragons Den USA and so he is also of great bloodlines, and completely unrelated to a lot of UK stock.
Flint has a solid creamy back is edged in a nice thick 80% pinstripe, and the dark colour on his flanks is broken by a nice light harlequin pattern. Flint is completely clean of dalmation spots, which highlights the purity of his pattern.
Flint is a great example of the 'Crowned' morph, with an exceptionally wide head, so wide in fact that his crests droop down at the sides of his head.
Introducing Tarquin...

Tarquin is the offspring of Setae and Kurian, and is the first baby I hatched from the pair! Tarquin has such beautiful colouration and pattern, and such a calm, inquisitive personality that I couldn't help but keep her! Tarquin is now 14 months old, and will be bred with Flint once she weighs a healthy 40g.
Tarquin is a gorgeous Halloween Harlequin, whose base colouration ranges from a chocolate brown (as in the picture above) to jet black! I hope that her offspring with Flint will keep her dark base colour and his creamy pattern!
Introducing Forest...

Forest is a female CB'04 Pine Ilse R.chahoua and a very special lady. Her colouration changes from a very patterned, camouflage grey during the daytime, to a stunning green (as pictured above) often with pink splodges. Her eyes are a beautiful pink colour, and as you can see from the photo above, she loves the camera.

I am deeply saddened to report that in May 2008 Forest unexpectedly passed away. Post Mortem revealed the cause to be a gut abscess, which the Vet assured me was, I quote "One of those freaky things you cannot expect and can do nothing about". I am devastated by the loss of my beautiful girl, but I will endeavour to find a new partner for Finley and continue my breeding plans for this wonderful and rarely seen species.
R.I.P My Beautiful Forest.

Introducing Finley...
Finley is a CB'06 Pine Ilse male R.chahoua and an excellent example of what is described in De Vosjoli et al 2003 as a 'High Copper Red Chahoua'. His colouration whilst fired up is almost all black and rust red, with strong black banding across the shoulders and tail outlined with white. He is a large gecko, measuring almost 10inches total length. Finley is a very tame gecko, quite happy to relax on your shoulder or curl up in your pocket, and I hope he passes this on to his offspring.
